13.1. Definition of an eTiket to Destinations Abroad

An international eTiket is any travel (reservation) document for international transport issued from the ČD eShop, e.g. international tickets issued under an international tariff (as of the announcement), First Minute Europe (Včasná jízdenka Europe), SparNight, travel documents for the automobile train and reservations. The GCC-CIV/PRR, the SCIC-NRT, this provision of the ZUJ and further the Rules for Shopping in the ČD eShop (to which the passenger agrees by checking the relevant box when purchasing tickets) apply to eTiket tickets. eTikets to destinations abroad are available in the eShop only for selected countries and routes. A list of routes and a more detailed specification is provided in the ČD eShop (www.cd.cz).

13.2. Identification of the passenger

eTiket travel documents are non-transferable (they are issued in the passenger’s given name and surname) and are bound to an identification card matching the number which the passenger provided at the time of purchase and which is printed on the document. If the information specified on the travel document does not match that on the identification presented, or if no identification card is presented, then the ticket is invalid. An identification card is understood as an identification card issued by a state administrative authority of the Czech Republic, e.g. civic identification card, foreigner’s residence permit, passport, driving licence, ZTP (ZTP/P) card, in the case of foreigners from an EU country a common valid identification document issued by a state administrative authority in the relevant country. An identification card is further understood as a ČD discount card, an In Karta card, an identification card issued by another carrier operating in the Czech Republic, or the national discount cards of other European railway carriers (e.g. BahnCard DB, VorteilsCard ÖBB, etc.).

The following must be visually specified on the identification card: • given name and surname,

• date of birth,

• a photograph of the holder, • identification card number.

If the passenger presents an identification card which does not meet the criteria mentioned above (e.g. a payment card), then the ČD conductor is authorised to demand presentation of a piece of personal identification.

13.3. Purchase of travel documents and their use

eTiket travel documents are purchased through the ČD eShop or by telephone through the ČD Contact Centre. The passenger must print out the obtained travel document in unreduced A4 format; in international transport, it is not possible to use for transport tickets displayed on a screen. Advance sales of eTiket travel documents generally begin 60 days prior to the train’s departure and are terminated no later than 2 hours prior to the train’s scheduled departure from its originating station, unless specified otherwise in the Rules for Shopping in the ČD eShop.

13.4. Validation of eTiket travel documents

Before leaving the territory of the Czech Republic (i.e. no later than before the border station or at the border station), the passenger is required to have the eTiket travel document validated (stamped) by a ČD conductor or at a ČD ticket counter. An unstamped travel document is invalid (it will not be recognised by foreign train personnel).

Certain eTikets need not be validated (an electronic inspection is performed abroad); an overview is provided in the following table:

Required validation of eTiket travel documents

Germany no no

Austria no no

Slovakia no no, incl. the automobile train

Poland yes yes

Denmark yes no

The Netherlands eTiket not offered no

Switzerland eTiket not offered no

13.5. Exercising rights and information

A right under the transport contract can be exercised (a claim can be lodged) exclusively through the ČD eShop using the “Returns” link or by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. More detailed information is provided in the Rules for Shopping in the ČD eShop.

Passengers can find answers to questions regarding offers in the ČD eShop on www.cd.cz or through the ČD Contact Centre.

14. First Minute Europe (Včasná jízdenka Evropa)

First Minute Europe (Včasná jízdenka Evropa) is a ticket for a discounted fare in international transport issued through the ČD eShop (in the form of an eTiket document) or at ČD ticket counters equipped to issue international tickets. A service fee in the amount of CZK 50 is charged for each First Minute Europe (Včasná jízdenka Evropa) ticket purchased at the ticket counter. The ticket is valid in 2nd or 1st carriage class, and the number of places available for each train, date and direction is always limited. The travel document is valid only on the train (trains) specified thereupon. The ticket is invalid (except in the case of extraordinary events) if the passenger uses a different train. On certain routes, the price of the First Minute Europe (Včasná jízdenka Evropa) ticket also includes a reservation for a seat, or a couchette or sleeper berth. Advance sales of these travel documents always end 3 days prior to the train’s departure. It is not possible to transfer to 1st carriage class, to a section with a different service or to a different train. Travel documents cannot be returned or exchanged for reasons on the passenger’s side. Current prices and routes are published on www.cd.cz.

14.1. Transporting children accompanied by their parents

For free transport of children accompanied by their parents in the DB or ÖBB segment within the scope of the First Minute Europe (Včasná jízdenka Europe) offer to Germany and Austria, the terms and conditions specified in Art. 9.4.2 of the ZUJ apply reasonably.
