1. Community Heritage Commission meeting of November 1 & December 7, 2006.

MOVED and SECONDED

THAT the minutes of the Community Heritage Commission meetings of November 1 & December 7, 2006, be received and adopted.

CARRIED.

All members of Committee voted in favour of the motion.

2. Community & Social Issues meeting of January 18, 2007.

MOVED and SECONDED

THAT the minutes of the Community & Social Issues meeting of January 18, 2007, be received and adopted.

CARRIED.

All members of Committee voted in favour of the motion.

(a) Multicultural Policies (Sub-Committee)

MOVED and SECONDED

THAT the following recommendation arising from the January 18, 2007 meeting of the Community and Social Issues Committee be referred to staff for review:

“THAT staff be requested to collect information on future demand for child care in New Westminster, and existing child care services.”

CARRIED.

All members of Committee voted in favour of the motion.

Councillor Donnelly joined the meeting at 3:07 p.m.

3. Seniors Advisory Committee meeting of December 7, 2006.

MOVED and SECONDED

THAT the minutes of Seniors Advisory Committee meeting of December 7, 2006, be received and adopted.

CARRIED.

All members of Committee voted in favour of the motion.

(a) Member Reports – Betty Christianson

** MOVED and SECONDED and CARRIED, this Committee recommends THAT Council write a letter to Fraser Health Authority expressing concern on the issue of first available bed allocations and the inappropriate placement of patients in residential care.

CARRIED.

All members of Committee voted in favour of the motion.

(b) Member Reports – Shirley Tonks

** MOVED and SECONDED and CARRIED, this Committee recommends THAT Council encourage placement of a hardware store in the uptown and Sapperton areas of the city.

CARRIED.
