Eye in the Sky
It seems like an infinite number of stars stretch across the cosmos, but the number of stars might be smaller than you think. Astronomer Dorrit Hoffleit has counted the
number of stars visible to the naked eye and there are just 9,096. This
number includes stars in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
Since you can only be in one hemisphere at a time, that means you are seeing 4,548 stars on a clear night. Peek through a pair of good binoculars and the number goes up to 217,000.
Who Said So?

Postpartum panic is more like it.”
Root of the Matter
In the offing
If something is in the offing, then there is a good chance that it will happen soon or in the near future.
This phrase is of nautical origin and was common in the 17th century.
The offing is the part of the sea that can be seen from shore. It was a term most often used by those standing on shore waiting for ships to arrive. Ships spied in the offing were expected to dock before the next tide. By the 19th century, in America, it had gained its metaphorical meaning.
