CASE AND GENERAL STUDIES IN THE ARTISTIC, SCIENTIFIC AND

GOVERNMENTAL SECTORS

Focus Task Force Report

The digital entities studied as part of the case study are the website and the various digital components that participate in the execution of the work. For example, the performance artist Stelarc (case study 02) believes that the authenticity of the digital entities related to his.

The focus of the case study is the data records from the Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) mission and the Planetary Data System (PDS). Concerns regarding the reliability and accuracy of the digital devices in this study are addressed in several ways.

Government

For further discussion of these concepts in relation to the findings of the Focus 3 case studies, see the section titled “Authenticity, Accuracy and Reliability in the Government Focus Case Studies” in the Domain 2 Task Force Report. Furthermore, each case study attempted to provide some input to the various cross-domains to complement the research of the cross-domains.

RECORDS CREATION AND MAINTENANCE

Task Force Report

Second, Domain 1 used the diplomatic analysis conducted on each case study to describe the formal elements of the documents and their creation processes and to identify the relevant contextual information to be preserved. The first related to the creator of the archives and the second to the administrative and managerial framework. Finally, by characterizing all case studies on a common basis, it was possible to make robust comparisons between them.

Its objective was to determine the limits of study sampling and to determine the presence of patterns in creation and maintenance. Validation of the InterPARES 2 Project Chain of Custody Model Using Case Study Data.” Available at. Finally, a first draft of the Domain 1 Working Group report was written and presented for discussion at a plenary workshop in Los Angeles in September 2006.

The main outputs of the research conducted in Domain 1 are: (1) Model for Case Study Analysis, (2) set of case study characterizations, (3) set of case study overviews and (4) overview on creation and maintenance observed in a wider context. 14 The “Summary” report for each of the four general studies examined from Domain 1 is available on the InterPARES 2 website and on the DVD that accompanies this book. Finally, to place these definitions in their archival context, the notions of creation and maintenance are presented as they apply to the concept of the data life cycle.

Project

Thibodeau on this topic.16 On this basis, two concepts essential for area 1 are presented; that is, the concepts of creation and maintenance. These terms are defined as they are understood and used in the context of InterPARES 2 and in particular in the diverse documentation generated by Domain 1. The concept of "record" is based on the concept of document as understood by archivists.

On the other hand, a record is a document created (made or received) as an instrument or by-product of a given activity, and which is set aside for action or reference. Therefore, what distinguishes a record from a document that is not a record is the fact that a record has a relationship with the creator's activity and is produced during the performance of the activity. The research in the first phase of the InterPARES project17 sought to establish the reliability of the above definition for records mandated for accountability and administrative needs, created in databases and document management systems.

It also leads to the distinction between the terms 'stored digital document', a digitally encoded object that is managed as a document,19 and 'manifested digital document', which is essentially defined as a digital document that is treated as a document. a document that is visualized or displayed from a stored digital document and/or stored digital component(s) in a form suitable for presentation to a person (i.e. in a human readable form) or to a computer system (i.e. in machine language) .20.

Project

There is one case in the private sphere (Case Study 14, Archaeological Records in a Geographic Information System), two cases in the public sphere (Case Study 08, Mars Global Surveyor Data Records in the Planetary Data System and Case Study 19, Preservation and Authentication of Electronic Engineering and Manufacturing Records) and two university research groups with a mixed structure (case study 06, Cybercartographic Atlas of Antarctica and case study 26, MOST Satellite Mission). With many of the case studies in art focus, the role of the created documents is both retrospective and prospective. What is witnessed in art focus case studies is the continuation of the artistic tradition in the digital environment.

Most case studies in the government's focus deal with a traditional activity that is carried out in a new way. Even in the case of the Ontario Web exhibitions, the creation process is not something that is entirely new or different. Most case studies in the focus of art had no idea, or at least no concern.

Within the registration form of the archaeological site, there is a special sign in the form of the organization's logo. This question does not apply to most case studies in the field of art. This question does not apply to many case studies in art.

The legal obligations of the transactions have not changed even in the Singapore Supreme Court case. Any inaccuracies in the copies included in the database are attributed to the creators of the original documents.

AUTHENTICITY, RELIABILITY AND ACCURACY OF DIGITAL RECORDS IN

THE ARTISTIC, SCIENTIFIC AND GOVERNMENTAL SECTORS

Task Force Report

A more fruitful discussion can be had on the term "authenticity" and its closely allied term. One of the most useful discussions of these issues in case study reports is in case study 20, Ireland's Revenue On-Line Service (ROS). In fact, this case study treats authenticity as if it rests primarily on data accuracy.

First, it can be noted that data quality is the way in which the concept of accuracy is expressed. An additional feature of the concept of precision in the sciences is how it is influenced by the idea of duration. With a large data set, it is also possible to see the overall accuracy of the data.

To ensure the reliability, authenticity and accuracy of digital entities and documentation in CAA, data is obtained from credible sources and is peer-reviewed. Conceptual Analysis: Authenticity, Accuracy, and Reliability in Art Literature Art practice and theory are rarely concerned with by-products. Little literature deals more than superficially with the problems of preserving digital works of art.

129 See the discussion of the concept of "limited variability" in Duranta and Thibodeau, "The Concept of Record," op. This sensitivity should be explicitly defined in the artwork instructions; includes timing and other measurable aspects of input.

Task Force Report

2 See Appraisal Task Force (2001), “Appendix 4: A Model of the Selection Function,” in The Long-term Preservation of Authentic Electronic Records: Findings of the InterPARES Project, Luciana Duranti, ed. Archivists were also needed for each of the twenty-three approved case studies and eleven general studies. 9 For a summary of the intellectual organization of the Project, see http://www.interpares.org/ip2/ip2_intellectual_organization.cfm.

National Archives and Records Administration Ken Hawkins, USA—Working Group 3.3 Hans Hofman National Archives of the Netherlands—Working Group 3.3. Therefore, the initial meetings of Domain 3 researchers focused on developing appropriate methodologies for the study of creators. The Domain 3 Task Force will use the knowledge gained during the case studies..17.

Summaries of the case studies are available on the InterPARES 2 website18 and in the Focus Task Force Report. An early activity of the Domain 3 researchers was to design the following question for inclusion in the proposed list of case study questions:19. As case studies were completed, the results of the interviews were reviewed, both from the perspective of the case study questions and the Domain 3 research questions.

Template for Case Studies Analysis

The June 2001 draft of the report, entitled "Survey of Preservation Practices and Plans," is available as a draft appendix to the Preservation Task Force's final report at. The authors re-surveyed eight of the thirteen organizations that participated in the first round and conducted eighteen in-depth interviews with selected key informants. This process provided a more detailed understanding of the conservation strategies being explored and measured the progress made in the meantime.

41 See for example the strategy used by the creator in case study 14, in which copies of the GIS data and related records. In case study 26 (MOST Satellite Mission) it is stated that, “[s]ince MOST researchers mostly work with custom software, one of the issues related to their work is the preservation of the software. A more concise summary of this specific activity is also provided in the section entitled "A Strategy for Preventing Technological Obsolescence of an Artistic Work" of the Domain 2 Task Force Report.

The custom-built software used to process satellite data in case study 26 (MOST Satellite Mission) is a good example of the latter. Analysis of the InterPARES 2 case studies showed that there is not necessarily a manifested digital record that corresponds to a stored digital record. Thus, digital encodings of registration data are used in a way that exactly parallels the use of paper data.
