TOMORROW
IN THE MAKING
2019 CONVOCATION PRINCE ALBERT CAMPUS
Congratulations
YOUR TOMORROW
HAS ARRIVED.
President’s Message
It is an honour to welcome you to today’s Convocation Ceremonies.
Throughout our 60-plus-year history, Saskatchewan Polytechnic has been, and continues to be, student- focused. We are committed to providing our graduates with the skills necessary to contribute positively to our province and to our country. Our emphasis on work- integrated learning, along with expertise in applied research, and our strong business and industry partnerships, open the door for you, our grads, to make meaningful contributions throughout your careers.
Our graduates are employed in every public and private sector of the economy. It’s one reason I like to say that Saskatchewan runs on Sask Polytech.
I wish you every success in the future, and I hope you will maintain your connections with us, including your faculty, friends and our Alumni Office. I encourage you to register as an alumnus, and make your relationship with us lifelong.
Thank you for choosing Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Your education will serve you well throughout your career. My sincere congratulations on your life-changing
accomplishment!
Dr. Larry S. Rosia President and CEO
Provost’s Message
Welcome to today’s Convocation Ceremonies, and congratulations!
I want you to know how proud my colleagues and I are that you have reached this important milestone in your life. We commend you for the hours of hard work, patience and perseverance you have invested to make this day possible.
I am confident the skills and experience you gained during your time at Saskatchewan Polytechnic will serve you well. The hands-on nature of the programs will enable you to approach challenges with a critical eye and be solution-focused. These are skills employers value greatly.
While your education may be complete at this time, it is my hope that you embrace lifelong learning and continue to have strong ties with Saskatchewan Polytechnic far into the future.
I wish you much success as you begin this new stage of your life.
Board of Directors' Message
On behalf of the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Board of Directors, we extend to you our warmest congratulations, and are honoured to celebrate your achievement of this very important personal milestone.
As your tomorrow becomes today, may you remember that learning is a lifelong journey. In the words of L. Frank Baum, “No thief, however skillful, can rob one of knowledge, and that is why knowledge is the best and safest treasure to acquire.”
Though your course work may now be successfully concluded, we hope Sask Polytech will continue to be a relevant part of your journey for many years to come. We see our relationship not at a close, but just beginning. Your future successes will be meaningful to us, and we look forward to welcoming you again — as students, alumni, instructors, employers, mentors, parents, supporters and friends.
Again, my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on this important day. We celebrate your achievement with you.
Mitchell J. Holash, QC
Chair, Saskatchewan Polytechnic Board of Directors

Faculty Award for Excellence:
Teaching
As a recognized leader in the development and delivery of skills and technical training, Saskatchewan Polytechnic owes its success to the individual and collective efforts of its faculty and staff. Our faculty award program recognizes excellence in service and innovation as a significant component to making our institution a key contributor to Saskatchewan's economic and social development. The Faculty Awards for Excellence: Teaching are intended to recognize, acknowledge, and reward Sask Polytech faculty for outstanding teaching. Up to five awards for recognition of excellence in teaching are presented each year.
Governor General's Academic Medals
The Governor General’s Academic Medal was first awarded in 1873 by the Earl of Dufferin, and has since become one of the most prestigious awards that a student in a Canadian educational institution can receive.
The Governor General of Canada continues this tradition of encouraging scholarship across the nation and recognizing outstanding students. The medals are awarded only for academic excellence as follows:
• Bronze at the secondary school level
• Collegiate Bronze at the post-secondary diploma level
Honorary Diploma
Since the first Honorary Diploma was awarded in 2004, Sask Polytech has been recognizing extraordinary individuals who are making a difference in communities
throughout Saskatchewan and beyond.
Honorary Diplomas are presented to individuals who have made a significant contribution to education, business and industry, or government, and who are supportive of Sask Polytech’s vision, values, and overall role in the local and provincial communities.
Student Outstanding Citizenship Award
A Student Outstanding Citizenship Award may be presented each year to one Saskatchewan Polytechnic student at each campus. This award recognizes a student who has inspired and encouraged others to make positive changes. Nominated by Sask Polytech faculty, the student’s outstanding work demonstrates benefits to the campus community and others.
