In addition, the officer may be granted up to three (3) days of leave with pay for travel related to the death. For the purposes of this clause, family means the spouse (or common law partner living with the civil servant), children (including foster children, children of the statutory or common law partner), parents (including stepparents or foster parents), or any family member who resides permanently in the officer's household or with whom the officer resides permanently.
TRAVELLING
This clause does not apply to an officer who is in travel status, which entitles him to claim expenses for accommodation and/or meals. Reasonable time with pay, to be. determined by the management, the officer will be allowed to take a meal break either at or next to his workplace.

PAY ADMINISTRATION
If the recalculated scale of pay is less than the scale of pay which the officer was drawing earlier, the revised scale of pay shall be the nearest to but not less than the scale of pay which was drawn before the revision. However, where the recalculated rate is at a lower step in the range, the new rate will be the rate of pay immediately below the rate of pay that was obtained before the revision.
DURATION
Upon termination of the acting assignment, the employee's substantive salary will be adjusted in accordance with Wage Notes (a) and (b). A). Only those employees performing instructor duties in the MCTS Department of the Canadian Coast Guard College are paid at RO-04 instructor rates. a) All employees will be paid on the relevant effective dates at rate bands A, B and C shown immediately below the employee's previous wage rate.

In this article, "Technological Change" means: a) presentation by the employer of equipment or materials of a different nature from those used before;. Where technological change is to be implemented, the Employer shall seek ways and means to minimize the negative effects on officers that may result from such changes.
CHECK-OFF
Such consultation shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following: a) The estimated number, class and location of officers likely to be affected by the change. The effect that the change is expected to have on the working conditions or employment conditions of officers.

LEAVE - GENERAL
In scheduling vacation leave with pay to an officer, the employer must, subject to the operational requirements of the service, make all reasonable efforts to: a) to schedule the officer's vacation leave during the vacation year in which it is earned;. Revocation of Holiday Leave With Pay 16.08. a) The Employer shall make all reasonable efforts not to recall an officer to duty after he has continued on vacation leave with pay. Provided that the officer is authorized to continue on vacation leave for the relevant period, advance payment shall be made before going on vacation, prior to departure.
The officer must make every reasonable effort to mitigate any losses incurred and will provide evidence of such action to the. a) Officers will be credited a one-time entitlement of thirty-seven decimal five (37.5) hours of vacation leave with pay on the first (1st) day of the month following the officer's second (2nd) anniversary of service, as defined in clause 16.02. Effective from the date of signing this collective agreement, officers with more than two (2) years of service, as defined in clause 16.02, will be credited a one-time entitlement of thirty-seven decimal five (37.5) hours of vacation leave with pay . c) The holiday leave credits provided for in clauses 16.14(a) and (b) above shall be excluded from the application of paragraph 16.07 which deals with the Transfer and/or Liquidation of Holiday Leave.
SICK LEAVE WITH PAY
The duration of such leave shall be for the period the officer holds such office. Periods of leave without pay during the officer's return to work will not be counted as time worked, but will interrupt the period referred to in section (a)(iii)(B) without prejudice to the reinstatement provisions described in section (a) (iii) to activate. )(C). After his or her return to work, as described in section (A), the officer will work for a period equal to the period the officer received from the parentage.
The time spent on this leave will count towards the wage increase. e) Leave without pay granted under (b) of this article will be deducted from the calculation of “continuous employment” for the purpose of. calculating the severance payment and vacation leave for the officer involved. As part of the provisions of this article, attendance reporting shall be mutually agreed between the officer and the. If earned compensatory time cannot be liquidated at the end of the fiscal year, it will be paid out at the officer's hourly rate.
If any earned time cannot be liquidated by the end of the fiscal year, then cash payment will be made at the officer's current rate of pay.

When an officer completes more than one (1) year of continuous employment and ceases to be employed by reason of termination for incapacity under Section 12(1)(e) of the Act. Upon written application by the officer and with the approval of the employer, the officer may be granted educational leave without pay for various periods up to one (1) year, renewable by mutual agreement, to attend a recognized institution for study in some field of education in which preparation is required to more adequately fulfill his current role or to undertake studies in a field in order to provide a service that the employer requires or intends to provide. Career development Paid leave 29.05. a) Career development refers to an activity that, in the opinion of the employer, will probably help the individual in further career development and the organization in achieving its goals.
Such leave will only be granted where, in the opinion of the employer, the course of study is directly related to the officer's duties or will improve his qualifications. USE OF OFFICER-OWNED MOTOR VEHICLES 30.01 Unless it is a requirement of the officer's job, or unless by prior written agreement between the officer and management, no officer shall be required by the employer to use his privately owned motor vehicle not.

When there are four (4) levels of the grievance procedure, the grievant may choose to waive either level 2 or 3. 34.04 The employer shall designate a representative at each level of the grievance procedure and shall inform each officer to whom the procedure applies of the name or the title of the person so appointed, together with the name or title and address of the immediate supervisor or local officer in charge. complaint must be submitted. This information shall be disclosed to officials by means of notices posted by the employer in places where such notices are most likely to come to the attention of the officers to whom the grievance procedure applies, or in such other manner as may be determined by agreement between the employer and the union. Similarly, the employer is deemed to have submitted a response at any level on the date on which the letter with the response is postmarked, but the time limit within which the complainant can present his complaint at the next higher level is counted from the date on which the employer's response was delivered to the address indicated on the complaint form.
If such decision or settlement is not satisfactory to the officer, he may appeal to the next higher level of the grievance procedure within ten (10) days after such decision or settlement is communicated to him in writing. In determining the time within which any action shall be taken as prescribed in this procedure, Saturdays, Sundays and certain paid holidays shall be excluded.

PART-TIME OFFICERS
For the purposes of administering clauses 44.14 and 44.15, where an officer does not work the same number of hours each week, the normal work week is the weekly average of the hours worked at the straight-time rate calculated on a monthly basis. An employee whose employment in any month is a combination of both full-time and part-time employment shall not accrue vacation or sick leave credits in excess of the entitlement of a full-time employee. The equivalent full-time period this year must be multiplied by the weekly full-time rate of pay for the relevant group and level to produce the severance pay.
SHIFT PRINCIPLE
The following Appendices B, C, D, E and F shall be in effect on the date of signing of this collective agreement. Where the collective agreement refers to a "day", it shall be converted to seven decimal five (7.5) hours. This Memorandum of Agreement shall be effective on the date of signature and shall expire on April 30, 2007.
Vacation entitlements and debits shall be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement, but shall be converted to hours on the basis of one (1) day equal to seven decimal five (7.5) hours and one (1) week equal to thirty-seven decimal five (37, 5 hours. Sick leave entitlements and debits shall be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement, but shall be converted into hours on the basis of one (1) day equal to seven decimal five (7.5) hours and one (1) week equal to thirty seven decimal five ( 37.5) hours. Upon request and with the employer's approval, he is granted: a) seven decimal five (7.5) hours holiday with pay in lieu of holiday.
