Our soils: The origin of our wines
Terreno aluvial compuesto por proporciones similares de arena, limo y arcilla. Y con elementos de gran tamaño en superficie, cantos rodados, que sirven de manto de protección frente a la deshidratación y la excesiva insolación. Este tipo de suelos proporciona vinos de buena estructura y concentración y acentúa la intensidad aromática predominando las notas minerales y frutales.
Alluvial soil made of similar proportions of sand, lime and clay with larger size elements on the surface i.e. rocks and boulders, that act as a protective layer from dehydration and over-sunshine. Vines from this type of soil provide well-structured and concentrated wines with an emphasis of aromatic intensity, showing mineral and fruity notes.
Suelos francos, con la misma proporción de arena, limo y arcilla y pobres en materia orgánica. Los vinos son estructurados, con mucho color, sabrosos y con muy buena acidez, debido al bajo contenido en potasio.
Loam soil with the same proportion of sand, lime and clay. The wines from this type of soil are structured with a lot of color, flavor and good acidity due to the low potassium content.
Suelos pedregosos de textura franco-arenosa con un recubrimiento superior de cantillo rodado. Los vinos son finos y elegantes, destacando las notas frutales. En boca son frescos.
Stony, sand loam soils, with a top layer of small boulders and rocks. The wines from this type of soil are fine, elegant and showing fruity notes. In mouth they are fresh and vibrant.
Suelos arcillo calcáreos y arcillo-ferrosos que resultan muy adecuados para limos y arcillas), son ligeramente alcalinos, pobres en materia orgánica y con moderada disponibilidad hídrica durante el verano, otorgando a nues-tros vinos unas peculiaridades únicas.
Clay-calcareous and ferrous clay soils very appropriate for a quality vine growing, as they have a balanced structure (sands, limes and clays). They are slightly alkaline, poor in organic material and with a moderate water avai-lability during the summer, supplying our wines with unique characteristics.

En la mejor zona de la D.O Ca. Rioja, en un espectacular meandro del Río Ebro, seencuentra Finca Valpiedra, uno de los Grandes Pagos de España. El suelo pedregoso de esta finca de 80 has. juega un papel fundamental en la calidad del vino. Las uvas de Finca Valpiedra, se vendimian a mano, a lo que sigue un riguroso proceso de selección. Posteriormente los vinos envejecerán en barricas nuevas de roble francés y americano.
In the best area of the appellation D.O.Ca. Rioja, on a spectacular bend of the River Ebro lies Finca Valpiedra; one of Spain’s great terroirs. The stony soil of this 80ha. estate holds the key to the quality of this wine.
At Finca Valpiedra the grapes are hand-picked followed by a strict selection process. After vinification the wines will age in French and American oak casks.

Elaborado exclusivamente con una de nuestras variedades más tradicionales, el Tempranillo. Tras su envejecimiento durante 12 meses en barricas de roble francés y americano, Cantos de Valpiedra destaca por su equilibrio, que le confiere una textura suave y seductora. Limpio y cristalino, Cantos de Valpiedra presenta una intensidad de color mediaalta, donde predominan los tonos granates de gran profundidad con ribete azulado. Su mezcla de aromas florales y frutales como el tilo y la zarzamora, acompañados de las embriagadoras notas de madera que le aporta la barrica, le convierte en un vino goloso, sereno y redondo.
22-24 meses de envejecimiento en barrica de roble francés para un vino elaborado con Tempranillo, Graciano, Maturana Tinta confieren a Finca Valpiedra un intenso color rojo picota y ribete granate, con destellos violáceos.
Brillante y limpio con lágrima abundante y densa. Su aroma es intenso, con recuerdos de confituras de frutillos negros, chocolate blanco, endrinas y especias. Sensaciones de tierra y fondo mineral. La madera, muy bien integrada con la fruta, aporta aromas de cedro y especias del roble francés nuevo. Notas muy elegantes, complejas y sugestivas. En boca es potente y con enorme frescura frutal; el ataque es contundente pero sin aristas, redondo, de tanino graso y agradable, mostrando gran finura. Acidez equilibrada con el alcohol. Final largo con recuerdos de terruño en retronasal.
Vinified exclusively with one of our most traditional varieties, Tempranillo.
After 12 months of ageing in French and American oak casks, Cantos de Valpiedra stands out for its balance and that it gives a smooth and seductive feel.
Clean and crystal clear, Cantos de Valpie-dra presents a medium-high color intensi-ty, where deep, garnet hues with a blue rim are dominant.
With its blend of floral and fruit aromas like lime tree and blackberry, accompa-nied by intoxicating hints of wood given off by the oak, is what makes this a soft, calm and rounded wine.
22-24 months ageing in French oak casks for a wine vinified with Tempranillo, Graciano and Maturana Tinta gives Finca Valpiedra a deep, red cherry color and garnet rim, with violet glints. Bright and clean with glycerol tears.
Intense and powerful aroma with hints of black fruit jams, white chocolate, plums and spices. Earthy sensations, mineral essence. The oak, with the fruit, is very well integrated, lending aromas of cedar and spices from the new French oak. Very elegant, complex and suggestive.
A very powerful pass through the mouth with fresh fruit flavor. The initial attack has a lot of backbone with no sharp edges, rounded, with velvety and pleasant tannins, showing its finesse. Well balanced acidity with the alcohol. Long finish with hints of earthiness.

Cuando finalmente descubrimos Finca Antigua, teníamos la certeza de haberencontrado un terruño que permitía expresar nuestra creatividad en la elabora-ción de vinos.
Este viñedo nos ha dado la libertad de innovar con nuevas variedades de uvas y nuevos estilos de vino, y así perpetuar nuestra tradición de elaborar exclusiva-mente a partir de viñedos propios localizados en enclaves privilegiados.
La excepcionalidad es el sello de la bodega, ya que cada parcela está destinada a la elaboración de un vino diferente, garantizando así un estilo único e inimitable.
When we finally discovered Finca Antigua, we were certain that we had found a terroir that would allow us to express our creativity in the vinification of wines.
This vineyard has given us the freedom to innovate with new grape varieties and new styles of wine, and to continue in the tradition of vinifying exclusi-vely from our own vineyards that ae located in privileged enclaves.
Doing the extraordinary is the winery’s signature, in that every plot is destined for making a different wine while guaranteeing a unique and incomparable style.

Con esta gama se pretende realzar la personalidad de cada variedaddesafiando a zonas de prestigio de dentro y fuera de España. Finca Antigua Viura, elaborado mediante un sistema muy moderno de vinificación con maceracines largas, crianza sobre lías y enveje-cimiento en botella. Un vino aromático, untuoso y fresco. La gama de los vinos tintos, con la calificación de crianza, tienen por objeto mostrar las características de cada una de las varieda-des. El envejecimiento en barrica entre 8 y 12 meses dependiendo del tipo de vino, pretende aportar complejidad y longevidad sin desvirtuar el carácter de cada uva. Destacan por su elegante carta frutal, color, cuerpo y persistencia.
Vino naturalmente dulce sin envejecimiento en barrica. De color amarillo limón con destellos verdosos. En nariz destacan sus inten-sos aromas a melocotón y flores blancas. En boca es untuoso, con un final muy fresco.
Naturally sweet wine that is sun-dried with no oak-barrel ageing. A lemon-yellow color with greenish glints. In the nose its intense aromas of peach and white flowers really stand out. Unctuous on the palate,with a cool and fresh finish.
This range enhances the personality of each of the varieties (Tem-pranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot, among others) challenging prestigious areas inside and outside of Spain. Finca Antigua Viura, vinified of a very modern system of vinification with long macerations, ageing over lees and in bottle, is an aromatic, unctuous and fresh wine.
The range of red wines, all under the “ Crianza “ qualification, is meant to show the real characteristics for each Grape Variety, after aging in oak from 8 to 12 months and where, depending on the type of wine, will provide complexity and longevity without glossing over the true character of each grape. Known for their elegant fruitiness , color, full bodied and persistence tastes.

Finca Antigua Crianza Único, envejece entre 12 y 14 meses en barrica, y se ha elaborado con las va-riedades Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot y Syrah.
Finca Antigua Reserva se ha elaborado con Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon y Syrah, Y envejece entre 18 y 22 meses en barrica de roble francés.
Finca Antigua Crianza Único is aged for 12 to 14 months in oak and is made from the varieties Tem-pranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
Finca Antigua Reserva is made from Mer-lot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, and is aged for 18 to 22 months in French oak.

From our most exclusive single vineyard (Pico Garbanzo) within Finca Antigua, along with its 18 months ageing in French oak, this is an unusual, surprising wine with a high degree of expression of its origins.
It displays outstanding, intense aromas of scrubland, with hints of cloves, pepper and toasted wood.

Finca Montepedroso sigue la misma filosofía que el resto de bodegas de FamiliaMartínez Bujanda: viñedos propios localizados en enclaves privilegiados, y una esmerada y cuidada elaboración. Todo ello, punto de partida imprescindible para alcanzar la excelencia y la personalidad en sus vinos.
Esta bodega, cuenta con 25 hectáreas de viñedos a 750 m de altitud, y en ella se ela-bora un vino blanco de la variedad Verdejo 100%. Este proyecto refleja la expresión de la uva verdejo en un suelo y un clima muy peculiares: los de Finca Montepedroso.
Finca Montepedroso follows the same philosophy as all the Familia Martínez Bujanda wineries; to have their own vineyard located in a privileged enclave with a meticulous and careful vinification process. All this is more than necessary to reach the excellence and personality in their wines.
This winery has 25 hectares of vineyards at 750 meters of altitude. There we elaborate a white wine with 100% of the Verdejo variety. This project reflects the Verdejo grape expression in a very special soil and climate: Finca Montepedroso.

Color amarillo verdoso con destellos alimonados.Limpio y franco, de intensidad alta, destacan sus notas de albari-coque, melocotón, hinojo, cascara de almendra verde, anís y las de frutas frescas. Con recuerdos de heno recién cortado y ligeros toques de humo mezclados con notas minerales.En boca tiene una entrada aterciopelada y sedosa, condesarrollo hacia un gran volumen y estructura. Largo y sabroso, de postgusto frutal, la acidez equilibrada le aporta frescura y nervio.
A greenish yellow color with lemon glints.
Clean aromatic ensemble, with high intensity. The notes of apricot, peach, fennel, green almond shell, aniseed, fresh fruits show up. Reminders of fresh cut hay, and light smoke touches mixed with mineral notes.
Velvety and silky entry developing to great volume and structure. Long and tasty, fruity aftertaste, the balanced acidity provides fresh-ness and crispfresh-ness.

Viña Bujanda posee un total de 120 has. repartidas en parcelas por Rioja Alavesa y RiojaAlta, entre ellas una importante finca en las inmediaciones de Logroño “El Seminario”. Dependiendo de la parcela y su localización encontramos suelos, arcillo calcáreos (estruc-turas en terrazas y pequeñas parcelas) y arcillo ferrosos (rojizos y fuertes).
La avanzada edad de los viñedos entre 20 y 60 años y su inmejorable orientación, hace que contemos con uvas de las variedades Viura y Tempranillo de la mejor calidad. Los vinos de Viña Bujanda son la mejor expresión de las variedades Viura y Tempranillo, uvas tradicionales en la D.O. Ca. Rioja. Siguiendo con las exigencias del mercado son de la máxima calidad y precios competitivos.
Con estos vinos se completa la gama de vinos del grupo Familia Martínez Bujanda.
Viña Bujanda owns 120 hectares of vineyards in different plots within the sub-re-gions of Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta, one of them near Logroño” El Seminario”. Depending on the plot and where it is situated we can find clay lime soils (small vineyards with terraced structures) and ferrous clay soils (reddish and strong). The old age of the vineyards, between 20 and 60 years, and their superb lo-cations, make it possible for us to count on the best quality of the Viura and Tempranillo grapes varieties.

Está formada por: Un Blanco, un Rosado, un Tinto Joven, un Crianza, un Reserva y un Gran Reserva .
Viña Bujanda Viura: Es un vino con notas florales, fresco y con un largo final. Viña Bujanda Tempranillo: Con aromas afrutados, amplio y con gran volumen. Final largo y postgusto sabroso.
Viña Bujanda Tempranillo: Intensidad media-alta. Destacan sus aromas a frutos negros y rojos. Suave y envolvente.
Viña Bujanda Crianza: Intensidad media alta, y color púrpura, es un vino elegante y complejo. Final largo.
Viña Bujanda Reserva: Intensidad media, color cereza picota y ribete granate. Notas de madera de caja de puros. Elegante y complejo.
Viña Bujanda Gran Reserva: Color cereza intenso con ribete azulado. Notas de madera, vainilla, caja de puros y especias. Redondo y muy largo.
The wines of Viña Bujanda are fresh, with a good color and medium degree of alco-hol, based on Viura and Tempranillo grapes varieties; always ensuring the constant quality and innovation of the Familia Martínez Bujanda group.
The Viña Bujanda wine range comprised: A Young White, Rose and Red wines, a Crianza, a Reserva and a Gran Reserva.
Viña Bujanda Viura: It shows flowery aromas, fresh attack and long finish. Viña Bujanda Tempranillo: Fruity aromas, wide and big volume, a very long finish

Un vino que no encontrara en el mercado. Una pequeña partida de vino
de excelente calidad que ha sido elaborada y envejecida como algo muy
exclusivo para los socios del Club.
Ante la demanda de visitantes y amigos de
bode-ga se crea en el año 2005 este pequeño y selecto
Club que tan sólo cuenta con 30 barricas bordelesas
de roble francés nuevo.
Un vino que año tras año acapara las mejores
notas de los críticos y las más importantes, las de
nuestros socios.
Esta elaborado con las variedades Tempranillo,
Graciano y Maturana Tinta y ha sido criado en
barricas de estreno de roble francés durante
21 meses cuya aportación es notoria en nariz y
posteriormente en boca.
Un vino perfecto para acompañar carnes rojas,
cordero al horno, caza mayor (corzo y rebeco) y
quesos de media curación.
A wine that you will not find in the market. A small batch of excellent quality
wine, elaborated and aged exclusively for the members of the club.
Following the demand of visitors and friends of the winery, we found this small
and selected club in 2005, with only 30 barrels of new French oak-tree.
A wine that, year after year, receives the highest awards from the critics and,
most important, from our members.
It is elaborated with the varieties Tempranillo, Graciano and Maturana Tinta
and has been aged in new French oak barrels for 21 months which is clearly
appreciated in the nose and afterwards in the mouth.
A perfect wine to match red meats, roasted lamb, deer and semi-matured
cheeses.
Un vino exclusivo, seleccionado por el innovador enólogo Lauren Rosillo,
Selección LR, sólo disponible para los miembros del Club.
En Marzo de este mismo año, Finca Antigua ofrece
la posibilidad de formar parte de este Club,
pudien-do adquirir una de las 36 barricas númeradas de la
Selección LR 2004.
Este vino de edición limitada, no se encontrará en
el mercado, esta producción de excelente calidad
va destinada en exclusiva para los socios del recién
inaugurado Club.
Es un vino elaborado con las variedades Syrah, Cabernet
Sauvignon y Tempranillo. Su envejecimiento en roble
francés nuevo, le aporta aromas especiados y anisados.
Un vino indicado para comidas elaboradas, carnes y
pescados grasos, platos de cuchara y por supuesto
una amplia gama de quesos, sobresaliente con los
más curados.

Selección LR, only available for the members of the club.
In March this year, Finca Antigua offers the possibility to take part of this
Club, buying one of the 36 numbered barrels of the Selección LR 2004.
This wine, of limited edition, will not be available in the market. This excellent
quality production goes exclusively to the members of the brand new club.
It is a wine elaborated with the varieties; Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and
Tempranillo. Its ageing in new French oak contributes with spicy and
ani-seed aromas.
