Abstract

The following presentation is about the present perfect tense. It contains its use, form, and some examples with ever/never; already/yet; just; since and for.

PRESENT PERFECT USE

• The present perfect is used to say what has happened recently and has an effect on the present moment.

• We often use 'just', 'yet' and 'already' to express the relationship to the present moment.

EVER / NEVER

 We use ever in questions and statements.

•Have you ever visited Prague?

•Madrid is the best city I´ve ever visited.

 We use never in statements.

•I’ve never visited America.

•(= I haven’t visited America.)

• We use just in statements to show that an action finished only a few minutes earlier.
