FROM THE PASTOR…
Dear Parishioners,Last Sunday, we conducted a very successful Commitment Weekend for Generations of Faith, our Capital Campaign for our diocese and our parish.
Somewhere in the vicinity of about $150,000 in pledges were received last weekend alone at the English and Spanish Masses. We are still sorting out the pledge cards and following up to clarify some commitments. We hope to give you the exact accounting next weekend.
In total, we have secured pledges totaling beyond three-quarters of a million dollars, which is in the area of 178%-179% of our initial assigned goal of $420,000.
This means that a half-million dollars (at least) is coming back to St. Raphael’s for our local needs. This is an amazing achievement and a clear testimony to the Gospel stewardship of our pa-rishioners. As Pope Francis has said: “When faith doesn’t reach your pockets, it is not genuine faith.”
As you may know, we have been actively pushing the target goal beyond the initial one, so as to make another Capital Campaign for our upcoming parish anniversary (150 years in 2018) unnec-essary.
For this reason, we continue to solicit the support of those who have not yet done their part in this historic initiative to fortify St. Raphael’s for future generations of faith, as earlier generations of faith fortified the parish for us. Pay it forward, as they say, and do it as an act of faith.
The forms to participate are available in this bulletin or at the rear of the church.
Deepest thanks to all who came together as a parish family to get behind this wonderful effort!
-Father Jerry Jecewiz

FRASES IMPORTANTES DEL PAPA FRANCISCO ANTE EL CONGRESSO DE EE.UU

JOIN THE FAMILY MASS CHOIR...
We are ready to start a new year for St. Raphael’s Family Mass Choir and we need your talents. The children and adults working with the choir have done an excellent job over the recent years and have made significant contributions to the liturgical life of St. Raphael’s parish. Children in grades 2 and above who are ready and willing to sing are encouraged to join us. We would also be interested in hav-ing any high school students participate. The practices are held one or two Monday’s a month at 7:00PM and the choir will be singing at the monthly Family Masses, Christmas Eve, First Communion Mass, Confirmation and other appropriate occasions. Dates and other specific information will follow.
The only requirements are that you attend practice and Mass and behave appropriately. We
con-tinue to look for adults who are willing to assist in the singing, who may play a musical instrument or who are willing to help with other support functions, such as transportation. If you are interested please fill out this form and return it to the parish rectory, to Sister Christine at the Religious Education Pro-gram, Joe Becker or Jan Wnek after Mass. If you have any questions regarding the choir please feel free to call the rectory or call Joe Becker at 718-392-3008 or email Joe at [email protected].
I am interested in being a part of St. Raphael’s Family Mass Choir (Please print clearly)
