Composer Notes

This is a very upbeat danzón that expresses the Afro-Cuban way of hope. In the hardest of times, the Caribbean people have been capable of dancing and speaking of love and hope. With the same joy that Puerto Ricans and Cubans express their feelings, we, too, can express our hope for the coming of the Messiah to the world. You may want to study the recording a bit to see how the rhythm section drives this piece. The bass guitar, percussion, and piano have very specific parts that help the style come across.

Este es un danzón muy alegre que expresa la esperanza afrocubana. Aun en los tiempos más difíciles, la gente del Caribe ha sido capaz de bailar y hablar de amor y esperanza. Con el mismo gozo cubano y puertorriqueño, nosotros también podemos expresar nuestra esperanza por la venida del Mesías al mundo. Estudien la grabación un poquito para ver cómo los instrumentos se acoplan para formar este ritmo. El bajo, la percusión y el piano tienen partes específicas que ayudan a que brille este estilo musical.
