Decree-Law 121/2011

On the Amendment of the Provisions of Law 206/1990 on the specification of the People's Assembly Constituencies

The President of Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF),

After reviewing:

The Constitutional Proclamation of February 13, 2011; Constitutional Proclamation of March 30, 2011; Constitutional Proclamation of September 25, 2011;

Law 73/1956 on the Regulation of the Exercise of Political Rights and the amendments thereof;

Law 38/1972 on the People's Assembly and the amendments thereof;

Law 206/1990 on the Determination of the People's Assembly Constituencies and the amendments thereof;

And after consulting the Higher Election Commission (HEC); And the Cabinet’s approval;

Has hereby made the following Decree Law, which we hereby publish:

(Article 1)

The Arab Republic of Egypt shall be divided into forty six constituencies for the party list election system.

It shall also be divided into eighty three constituencies for the single-member election system.

The scope and divisions of each shall be determined according to the attached tables.

(Article 2)

All provisions for the People’s Assembly constituencies in violation hereof shall be repealed.

(Article 3)

The present Decree-Law shall be published in the official gazette, have the force of law, and be effective as of the day following the date of the publishing thereof.
