The Lion King is the story of a young lion prince named Simba, who is the son of the powerful Lion King Mufasa. Upon the birth of Simba, his uncle, “Scar” is then made to be the second in line to the throne which angers him greatly. Scar plots with the hyenas to kill Mufasa and Simba, thus making himself the next lion king.
One day Scar schemes with the hyenas and manages to
sabotage Mufasa and pushes him off of Pride Rock. Simba is led to believe by Scar that it was his fault, and so he flees the kingdom in shame. In exile, Simba befriends Pumbaa, the warthog and Timon, the meerkat and lives a carefree life in the jungle for many years.
After years of exile he is visited by the spirit of his father, Mufasa, who instructs Simba to defeat Scar and to reclaim his rightful throne. Persuaded to return home to overthrow Scar and claim the kingdom, Simba courageously completes his journey and fulfills his destiny, his “Circle of Life”

ur December Family Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday,December 12. The children have been busy rehearsing every morning and will perform songs from the Broadway musical, “The Lion King”.
The Family Meeting begins at 6:15 p.m.; however, the children should arrive 30 minutes BEFORE the meeting begins. Extra time is needed to organize the children and rehearse.
All children should wear black pants and a black shirt with long sleeves on this night.
Do not block aisles. Children will be entering and exiting through the aisles, which must remain clear to avoid any confusion. You may photograph your child from your seat.
Please mute cell phones. An adult should take
children that are crying to the lobby area. They may return to the multi-purpose room once they feel better.

“The Lion King –
La historia, “The Lion King” presenta la vida de un príncipe león joven nombrado Simba, que es el hijo del rey de los leones, Mufasa. Sobre el nacimiento de Simba, entonces hacen a su tío, “Scar” ser el segundo en línea para el trono de los leones. Let’s Learn About the
Weather!
Learning about the weather is a fun way for children to acquire knowledge because they can easily relate their personal experiences with what they learn. During their learning process this week, children need to ask questions so that they can discover and develop their ideas about the physical world. This week, children will be able to identify different kinds of cloud patterns, learn where rain comes from, and learn what happens to rain when the sun comes out. We will also talk about ways that weather helps us and hinders us.

Share these facts taken from the Farmer’s Almanac with your family and friends!
Tree crickets are called the “poor man's thermometer” because the temperature directly affects their rate of activity. Listen for a cricket and count the number of chirps it makes in fifteen seconds. Add 37. The sum will be the Fahrenheit temperature (almost exactly!).
Challenge your child to smell rain coming since many people can. Some scientists believe moisture (impending rain) makes your nose more sensitive!
How far away is lightning? During a storm, count the number of seconds between the strike of lightning and the sound of thunder, then divide by two. The answer reveals how many miles away the lightning is (thunder and lightning strike at the same time, but it takes the sound longer to travel; if you see lightning and hear thunder simultaneously, you are right in the middle of the storm).
The temperature of lightning is estimated at 50,000°F, which is hotter than the surface of the sun!

A los niños les encanta aprender sobre el clima porque los niños pueden relacionar fácilmente sus experiencias personales con lo que aprenden. Los grillos de los árboles son llamados el termómetro del humano porque
la temperatura afecta directamente en la actividad del tipo de cambio. Escuchar a un grillo y contar el número de gorjeos que hacen en 15 segundos y agregar 37. La suma de estos en grados Fahrenheit serán casi igual.
Desafíen a sus hijos a oler la lluvia ya que otros lo hacen. Algunos científicos
creen en la humedad (lluvia inminente) hace su nariz más sensible.
¿Que tan lejos llega un relámpago? Durante una tormenta, cuente los

Sight words are important words for your child to learn to read quickly. They are the words your child will encounter most often while reading or during standardized testing. Words should be recognized instantly without your child having to struggle to figure them out. They should be memorized. Students who learn these words have a good foundation for beginning reading. How many of these words can your child recognize immediately, without prompting? If your child struggles on any word, go on to the next. Try this activity at home. Review these words often. You may work with your child and retest. As your child learns to recognize these words quickly, reading becomes more enjoyable.
