The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring the Pennies for Heaven collection after all Masses next weekend. All funds raised go directly to seminarians of the Diocese of Columbus. In the future, this collection will be known as “Support Our Seminarians.”

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is January 18-25. This is a week of solidarity among Christians that has a history of over 100 years. We pray in a special way that all divisions among Christians may be removed so that we might enjoy a greater union among Churches. This year’s theme is “Called to Proclaim the Mighty Acts of the Lord,” because all baptized Christians are called to share with others the good things God has done for them.

From the Pastor’s Desk
Although we are facing serious winter weather this time of year, I would like you to look ahead to the spring. More specifically, I would like you to consider our Spring Fest, which will take place on Saturday, April 30. It’s still a few months away (on the other side of the cold and snow), but the Spring Fest committee is wasting no time in asking for your cooperation and collaboration. The members of the committee need help selling tickets for the annual $5,000 raffle, which is the centerpiece of the Spring Fest each year. We have had great success with this raffle in recent memory because parishioners have been so willing to sell tickets. Thank you for your efforts in the past. And thank you in advance for making this raffle a success again in 2016! Please note that Monday, January 25, is Father Sylvester’s birthday. He typically travels home to Africa to be with his family during the month of January. However, for the first time since coming to Christ the King, he will be celebrating his birthday in Ohio. If you would like, feel free to send Fr. Sylvester birthday greetings.

The Sisters’ Corner
The Sisters would like to invite everyone to prepare for the Lenten season, beginning with a family retreat on Sunday, February 7, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This will be a perfect way to enter into the forty days of Lent. (This event is in Spanish.)
This is the last week to sign up as an actor or actress for the Living Stations of the Cross. Rehearsals will be held every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Please contact the sisters if you have any questions. (This event is in Spanish.)
Parish News
The “Year of Consecrated Life” will come to a close on February 2, and we want to thank those who have consecrated their lives to God and His people. We will have a special reception to thank the religious sisters who serve our parish, as well as the other consecrated women who attend Christ the King Church. Join us in the vestibule after the Masses during the last weekend of January. We will serve refreshments and have time to thank these special individuals. (This event is bilingual.)
Get involved with the Appalachian Project 2016! This summer, high school and college-aged youth will be serving economically disadvantaged families in southern Ohio during the week of June 26. Monthly preparation meetings will begin on Sunday, February 7, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the undercroft at St. Catherine Church. All Saints Academy Catholic School
Registration for our 2016-17 school year will open in February. Look for information on Kindergarten round-up and new student registration in the coming weeks. If you are interested in All Saints Academy, we offer the Ed Choice Scholarship program for grades K-8, Title XX, and city grants for pre-school. Aunque estamos enfrentando el frío del invierno en este tiempo del año, quiero que pensemos en la primavera. Específicamente, quiero que pensemos en nuestro Festival de Primavera que tendrá lugar el sábado, 30 de abril. Todavía faltan algunos meses (cuando ya no haya frío ni nieve), pero el comité del Festival de Primavera no pierde tiempo al pedir su cooperación y colaboración. Los miembros del comité necesitan ayuda para vender boletos para nuestra rifa anual de $ 5,000, que es la pieza central del Festival de Primavera cada año. Hemos tenido un gran éxito con esta rifa en los últimos años porque los feligreses han estado dispuestos a vender boletos. The annual Diocesan Respect Life Conference will be Saturday, March 5, at St. Joseph Church in Plain City. The theme is “Being Pro-Life in the Year of Mercy.” The keynote speaker is Fr. Kevin Lutz. Mentor her to motherhood and fill the gaP. The Guardian Angel Program, gaP, is the Pregnancy Decision Health Centers' new mentoring program. The center is looking for compassionate mentors (Angels) who are willing to be matched with a single woman who is facing an unexpected pregnancy. The goal of gaP is to provide emotional support, spiritual guidance, and positive role modeling as a woman transitions into motherhood. As an Angel, you will walk beside an expecting mother and fill the gap in her life so she doesn't have to feel alone. If you can't be an Angel, but still have the desire to support and love these single mothers, the Choir of Angels is for you. You and a few others will make up the Choir and assist the Angel by providing things such as diapers, home cooked meals, letters of support, etc. to the pregnant mom.
