The verb estar

The –ar verbs you have used until now are called regular verbs because they follow a regular pattern. Verbs that do not follow a regular

pattern are called irregular verbs.

Estar is irregular because the yo form doesn’t follow a regular pattern. Note that the forms: est

The verb ir is almost always followed by a.

To ask where someone is going, use ¿Ad

nde vas? Where are you going (to)? You will often hear people say ¡Vamos! This means, “Let’s go!” or let’s.

Simple future tense

Just as you use “going” + an infinitive in English to say what you are going to do, in Spanish you use a form of the verb ir + a + and infinitive to express the same thing:

 Prepositional phrases are generally followed by an infinitive. Such as:
