2nd Latinamerican Masters Course

in Endocrine Surgery

The management of patients with surgical endocrine diseases requires a multidisciplinary

team of endocrinologists, radiologists, pathologists and surgeons. As the incidence of surgical

endocrine disorders has increased, Endocrine Surgery has emerged as a recognized

specialty within general surgery. The number of endocrine surgeons has gradually increased

worldwide, however, different from Europe and North America, the specialty has not

developed enough in Latin America; this second course tries to build continuity with the

promotion and dissemination of Endocrine Surgery as a subspecialty of General Surgery. We

will have the participation of Surgeons globally renowned from USA (Herbert Chen, Clive

Grant and Samuel Snyder) and Latin America.

This 2-day course contains discussion of relevant topics in surgery of thyroid and parathyroid

glands, live surgery and the possibility of applying new technologies (advanced energy

systems and neuromonitoring of recurrent laryngeal nerve) in hands-on practice in animal

model.

The pre-congress module contains a theoretical and practical schedule to perform thyroid

ultrasound and percutaneous ultrasound-guided biopsies among others.
