General Information
Schedule and Registration Information
Extracurricular and sports activities are offered by the school in three sessions on Mon-day through ThursMon-day from 3:10 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the Early Childhood Division (K-2) and Intermediate Division (3-8); these are:

Additional information:
● School provided extracurricular activities & swimming for Gr. K-8 - they meet once a week, and the paid extracurricular activity of Soccer Gr. 1-5 meets twice a week.
● Fencing meets twice a week and has no fee except the rental fee for clothes and equipment.
The LINK FOR THE SESSION II ON-LINE REGISTRATION FORM will be available 2 days only: Monday, March 13 from 8:00 a.m. until Tuesday, March 14 at 5:00 p.m.
A reminder regarding the ending of each session and the new dates of registration will be sent home via email two weeks before the activity session ends; you can also find this information posted on the extracurricular activities school website.

Información Adicional:
● El colegio ofrece Actividades Extracurriculares y Natación para estudiantes de Kínder a 8vo grado una vez por semana. La actividad de fútbol es pagada y se ofrece para 1ro a 5to grado dos veces por semana..
● La actividad de esgrima no tiene costo excepto por el alquiler de vestimenta y equi-po, dos veces por semana.
El LINK DE MATRICULA EN-LÍNEA PARA LA SESIÓN III estará disponible para las inscrip-ciones solo 2 días: el día lunes 13 de marzo desde las 8h00 hasta el día martes 14 de marzo a las 17h00.
Enviaremos un recordatorio acerca de la terminación de cada sesión y las nuevas fe-chas para inscripciones vía email dos semanas antes de que la sesión termine. Esta información también será publicada en el sitio web de actividades extracurriculares del colegio.
Procedures
1. Students can register for a maximum of 3 activities during Session III but the third activity must be related to the International Festival.
2. Students up to and including grade 4 should bring an extra snack.
3. Students can eat their snack in the afternoon at their activity at the beginning or end of the activity. The teacher will establish the time.
4. Students Grades 5-8 may bring a snack or buy one at the cafeteria snack bar using their school ID cards. The snack bar will be open from 3:05 p.m. to 3:10 pm.
5. Space is limited in some activities with 10-12 for students, unless otherwise specified in the ON-LINE Extracurricular Registration Form. We apply the policy of first-come first serve. Therefore, if your child is not able to get into the activity, please choose your second preference as explained in the form.
6. A minimum of 5 students are needed to open an activity. If the activity will not open due to low enrollment, parents will be notified via email and offered other options. 7. Student may lose the privilege to attend Extracurricular Activities because of behavior
problems.
8. After registration, there will be no reimbursements for paid activities of Soccer and Fencing.
9. When an Extracurricular Activity is cancelled during the school day, parents are notified via email. A call is also made to reconfirm that the message has been received. Students will go home at 3:00 p.m. on this day.
10. After the second week of Extracurricular Activities, changes in activities will be not accepted.
11. Students who sign up for Extracurricular Activities such as: Italian, Chinese, Fencing, Piano and Flamenco class must remember that they are yearlong activities. If they are unable to attend the activity, the parent must send via email a justification at dproano@cotopaxi.k12.ec
12. Registration for Extracurricular Activities and Sports is done ONLY via ON-LINE on registration dates.
Procedimientos
1. Los estudiantes pueden matricularse en un máximo de 3 actividades durante la Sesión III y la actividad debe estar relacionada con el Festival Internacional.
2. Los estudiantes hasta 4to grado deben traer un extra snack.
3. Los estudiantes pueden comer su refrigerio en la actividad extracurricular al principio o al final de la actividad. El profesor(a) definirá el momento en el que puedan comer. 4. Los estudiantes de 5to a 8vo. Pueden traer un extra refrigerio o comprarlo en el
Snack Bar de la cafetería de 3:05 p.m. a 3:10 p.m. antes de comenzar las actividades extracurriculares.
5. Los cupos son limitados en algunas actividades con un máximo de 10 a 12 estudiantes, salvo que se especifique lo contrario en este folleto. Aplicamos la política POR ORDEN DE LLEGADA, por lo tanto, si su hijo/a no pueda ingresar a la actividad, solicitamos que elijan otras opciones ofrecidas durante la semana.
6. Un mínimo de 5 estudiantes se necesita para abrir una actividad. Si la actividad no se abre debido al bajo número de inscritos, los padres de familia recibirán notificación vía email y se ofrecerán otras opciones.
7. Los estudiantes pueden perder el privilegio de asistir a las Actividades Extracurriculares por problemas de conducta.
8. No hay reembolsos para las actividades pagadas de fútbol y esgrima después de que los estudiantes estén matriculados.
9. Cuando una actividad extracurricular es cancelada durante el día de clase, los padres de familia son notificados vía email y telefónica. En ese día los estudiantes irán a casa a las 15h00.
10. Después de la segunda semana de actividades extracurriculares no habrá cambios en las actividades.
11. Los estudiantes que se inscriben en actividades extracurriculares como chino, italiano, piano, flamenco y esgrima deben recordar que estas actividades son ofrecidas durante todo el año y el padre de familia debe enviar vía email a dproano@ cotopaxi.k12.ec justificando por falta de asistencia en caso de que el estudiante no pueda asistir. Las clases de idioma, música y esgrima necesitan mucho trabajo y compromiso de parte del estudiante.
12. Las matrículas del programa de Actividades Extracurriculares y Deportes se realizan UNICAMENTE EN-LÍNEA durante los días establecidos de matrículas.
Fees
Academia Cotopaxi offers the Extracurricular Activities & Sports Program as a part of your regular membership fees except for the activity of Soccer with Little Kickers. Spe-cial dance clothes, shoes for dance activities, and extra materials for specialty activities like cooking, art, comics, Italian, Chinese, cartooning etc. are not covered. There is a material fee for these classes that needs to be paid during the two days of registration. You will find indication of the fees as these apply listed in this brochure.

Car Riders Pick Up
1. The High School door gate is open from 4:05 p.m. to 4:25 p.m. for students K-8 for pick up. After this time, students need to be picked up at the school main entrance. We remind parents to be punctual in picking up their child.
2. If your child will be leaving with a friend or will not stay for the Extracurricular Activity, please complete the CHANGE OF TRANSPORTATION FORM located under RESOURCES on our website.
3. Students, who are not picked up on time will not be able to continue with Extracurricular Activities & Sports.
Late Bus Transportation Service
1. Bus service is available for students who participate in authorized extracurricular activities. The fee is included in the regular transportation fee. A special fee applies for those students who wish to take the Late Bus and are not registered for the regular

El valor de las actividades extracurriculares se encuentra in-cluido dentro de la pensión, excepto para la actividad de fút-bol con Little Kickers. Ropa especial para bailes, y materiales para actividades como arte, cocina, dibujo de historietas, ital-iano, chino, dibujos animados etc. no están cubiertos. Retiro de Estudiantes (Car Riders)
1. La puerta de Car Riders se encuentra antes delparqueadero cubierto y el horario de salida es desde las 16h05 hasta las 16h25 para estudiantes de 1ro a 8vo. grado; después de este horario, hay que retirar a los estudiantes en la puerta principal. Pedimos a los Padres de Familia que sean puntuales en retirar a sus hijos.
2. Si su hijo/a va a salir con un amigo/ o no podrá asistir a clases extracurriculares, complete el FORMULARIO DE CAMBIO DE TRANSPORTE que se explica en el siguiente párrafo.
3. Los estudiantes que no son retirados a tiempo no podrán continuar en el programa de Actividades Extracurriculares y Deportes.
Servicio de Transporte (Late Bus)
1. Para los estudiantes que participan en actividades extracurriculares y deportes autorizados después de clases, se ofrece servicio de transporte. El costo está incluido en el valor del transporte general. Un valor especial se cobrará para estudiantes que desean tomar el Late Bus y no están inscritos para2. The Late Bus offers door to door service with a bus monitor supervision and leaves the school grounds at 4:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday, students will go home at 3:00 p.m. as there are no extra after school activities. 3. Use the TRANSPORTATION CHANGE FORM:
● To change from bus to car rider (car people).
● To change the authorized pick-up persons for car riders.
● To change the hour of the late bus from after-school activities to normal dismissal at 3:00 p.m.

4. It is very IMPORTANT that someone receive your child at the bus stop. If no one is at home, the child will return to school.

Offered twice a week: Monday & Wednesday.
Little Kickers works at Academia Cotopaxi and brings professional coaches that teach our students. They focus in teach- ing a great soccer program in a “pressure free environment”. Students work with confidence, respect, coordination, con-trol, companionship and teamwork. At the end of May students will have a special jamboree soccer game on a Saturday morning: date and time will be announced in the near future. All soccer players will receive a medal and ice cream for the end of the soccer season.
This is a paid activity: Fee is $ 75.00 to be made payable to Academia Cotopaxi at the Cashier’s office during the 2 regis-tration days. If your child needs a soccer uniform, please stop by the Cashier’s office to pay $15.00 and let us know the uniform size. The uniforms will be ready in approximately 3 weeks.

Little Kickers trabaja en la Academia Cotopaxi con entrenadores profesionales y trabajan con nuestros estudiantes en la enseñanza de un gran programa de fútbol en un “ambiente libre de presión”. Los niños trabajan con confianza, respeto, coordinación, control, compañerismo y con trabajo en equipo. A finales de mayo tendremos un Jamboree -partido amistoso y después del partido todos los jugadores recibirán una medalla y helado por terminación de la temporada de fútbol. La fecha del partido será un sábado. Más adelante vamos a confirmar la fecha y hora.
Esta es una actividad pagada: Costo $ 75.00 y debe ser pagado durante los 2 días de matrícula a nombre de Academia Cotopaxi en la oficina de Caja General. Si su hijo/a ya tiene el uniforme favor enviar solo el valor de $ 75.00. En caso que su hijo/a necesita el uniforme el costo es de $15.00 y las medidas se tomarán durante los 2 días de matrículas en la oficina de actividades. 2,3,4,5 Painting Techniques Valeria Misle This art Activities combines different types of painting and methods of painting and drawing. Students will work with different types of materials such as pages from magazines, newspaper, photographs, fabric, soil, or packaging. We will use acrylic paints and pastels.

3,4 Introduction to Fencing (a) Andrea Grande Requirement: This is a yearlong activity and students who register for Fencing need to continue during the 3 Sessions in order to see progress. You will receive a notice to re-confirm registration at the beginning of each session for this activity. Description: Students will continue to learn the techniques for Fencing and will participate in May with a special game on a Saturday morning. Time and date will be confirmed in the near future.
Materials to be used: Plastic sword (floret), mask, connection cables, electronic scoreboards, teaching materials. Space limit: 12 students. Rental fee: $20.00 for each session

Dance Mix Daniela Proano In this activity, we combine different rhythms and steps proposed by the students and the teacher. The goal is to teach dancing lessons and also give the opportunity to the students to relax and have fun during this time. We are preparing a great dance choreography with songs that the students have chosen to make a mix. These are the songs: “We Wanna” by Alexandra Stan, “Ready or Not” by The Fugees, “Feeling Hot” by Daddy Yankee, “Don’t let me down” by The Chainsmokers and “La Bicicleta” by Carlos Vives and Shakira. They will perform this hip hop mix during the International Festival on Saturday, May 6. We will notify you regarding the clothes they will use and the fee very soon. 3,4,5 Int. Festival Hip Hop
Baile Mix Daniela Proaño En esta actividad combinamos diferente ritmos y pasos que proponen los estudiantes con la profesora. La meta es enseñar lecciones de danza y también la oportunidad para los estudiantes de relajarse y divertirse en la clase. Estamos preparando una hermosa coreografía con canciones que los estudiantes han escogido hacer un mix y que contienen las siguientes canciones: We wanna de Alexandra Stan, Ready or not de The Fugees, feeling hot de Daddy Yankee, don’t let me down de The Chainsmokers y La Bicicleta de Carlos Vives y Shakira. Gymnastics Danielle Taylor In this session students, will be offered basic to intermediate gymnastics floor skills including techniques of balance, body shapes, splits, rolling, turns, headstands, handstands, cartwheels, round offs, front/back walkovers and handsprings. Focus will be on flexibility, muscular strengthening, stretching and proper body techniques in gymnastics. Students will have the opportunity to be introduced gymnastics skills while learning a range of fun exercises, activities and games. Space Limit: 12 students

They will be able to create their own characters and be able to incorporate it in a story map and then into a comic book. The student will learn to free draw characters as well as inking and coloring. The final product is to have a comic book done to be able to share with parents.

3,4,5,6 Tiras Cómicas Edwin Poveda En esta clase estudiantes van a explorar el mundo de los dibujos de historietas (comics). After School Choir Allison Schmidtke Do you like to sing? If so, we are forming an after-school Choir to perform at this year’s International Festival on May 6th. Our goal would be to rehearse on Mondays from 3:00 to 4:00 in order to prepare a few songs from different cultures in different languages. In order for us to put together a successful performance, we need full commitment from each student.

Clases Allison Schmidtke ¿Te gusta cantar? Si es así, estamos formando El Coro después de clases para que pueda participar en el Festival Internacional el día sábado, 6 de mayo. Nuestra meta es practicar los días lunes de 15h00 a 16h00 algunas canciones de diferentes culturas en diferentes idiomas; para que podamos montar una presentación exitosa necesitamos del compromiso total de cada estudiante.

6,7,8 Esgrima Intermedio I Andrea Bliemes Esta es una actividad que se ofrece durante todo el año escolar y los estudiantes que se inscriben deben tomar esta actividad durante las 3 sesiones para poder ver el progreso. Debido a que esta es una actividad para todo el año escolar,
al final de cada sesión se enviará un recordatorio para reconfirmar la inscripción.
Esta clase se ofrece los días lunes y miércoles
Requisito: Los estudiantes deben tener un mínimo de 1 año de experiencia. En la 3ra sesión los estudiantes continuarán aprendiendo las técnicas del Esgrima y participarán un sábado en la mañana en un torneo especial; el día y hora se confirmara en un futuro cercano. 6,7,8 Digital Photography Gabriel Cadenas Students are required to bring a digital camera, a memory card and cable to connect to the computer in order to participate in this class. They will learn about the different parts of a digital camera, and how to use them properly and will also work and share about the use of speed and aperture when taking photos, the importance of natural and artificial lights. It will be led by our teacher Joy Brush and her husband Zach who is a professional software developer and will teach students essential coding techniques. Once students are ready to work on their own projects they will form small project teams to work on more advanced applications such as web sites, desktop applications, or mobile apps.
Programming is a great way for students to develop their problem-solving skills and creativity, and this club will develop their interest in the rapidly growing field of computer science. Space limit: 12 students

Festival dance that includes the following countries: Iran, New Zealand, Russia, Philippines and Indonesia. We will also have Mrs. Kathy Palmer who will support the dance preparation and work on the Polynesian dance.
This will be a spectacular dance that students will enjoy and learn a lot from. We will take measurements for the various costumes and will notify the fee soon. Students will perform the dance at the International Festival on May 6.

Are you interested in reading, writing or math and having a big buddy to always help you out? This is a club targeted to help in the different subjects or to keep going with these activities if you enjoy them.
Grade 11 and 12 students with the supervision of the mentor, Ms. Jocelyn Kerr will be in charge to help students learn and reinforce skills, we will enjoy fun times reading books and talking about them. We will have activities related to writing if you are a creative writer or one in the process. If you like math and would like to reinforce your skills or enjoy doing work with it then this is the club for you!

They will read books together, tell stories, play letter or word bingo, anything to help the younger children become better readers. It will run once a week for 30 minutes. Students will meet in the lower school library. It will count as service hours for the High school students and it will be a wonderful rewarding experience for all. The program will be open to a maximum of 10 students. We are piloting it this year, we hope to expand it in the future. 1,2,3 Lectura con Amigos Cristina Jiménez El programa de Amigos en la Lectura abarcara un grupo de estudiantes de secundaria que leerán uno- a uno con un
grupo de estudiantes de primaria. El grupo se reunirá una vez por semana para leer libros juntos, contar historias, jugar juegos de letras o Bingo de palabras, en fin, cualquier actividad que motive a los más pequeños para volverse lectores. The food we make will then be sold in the Sweet Morning Charities Coffee Shop on Friday mornings. All money raised with go to local charities. Students participating in this club are also invited to volunteer at the coffee shop for community service hours.
