FAITH FORMATION | FORMACIÓN DE FÉ 2020-2021 REGISTRATION
Beginning this Fall, Faith Formation classes will be only on Saturdays from 10:00—11:30 am. This two-year program focusses on sacramental preparation including first communion, confirmation, and full initiation (RCIA for children).
It's now time to register your child! Do to the pandemic we are not going to be in the corridors this year, so make sure you stop by the parish office to pick up registration form and secure your child's space. Tuition is the same as last year (2019-2020).

RCIA
RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) begins again this Fall. If you know someone who has shown interest in the Catholic faith, invite them to come and learn more. Perhaps you or your friend are already Catholic and just want to understand your faith better. Maybe you want to be confirmed. RCIA is the place for you, too.
RCIA is a series of gatherings that help individu- als learn more about what it means to be Catholic and how to grow in one’s relationship with Jesus Christ. In a small group setting, RCIA can help answer any questions about the Catholic faith.

RESPECT FOR LIFE MINISTRY | MINISTERIO DEL RESPETO POR LA VIDA On the Solemnity of the Assumption, 2020:
The Solemnity of the Assumption celebrates the Blessed Mother's entrance into heavenly glory.
The Catechism explains that Mary "was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven, where she already shares in the glory of her Son's Resurrection, anticipating the resurrection of all members of his Body" (CCC, 974).
Mary's Assumption into heaven reminds us that life on earth is a pilgrimage to our ultimate destination. We prepare in hope for our own passage into eternal life by the choices we make today. When we choose to love and follow God in our daily lives, we strengthen our relationship with Him, and this relationship is the true
meaning of heaven: "To live in heaven is 'to be with Christ'" (CCC, 1025 citing St. Ambrose, In Luc.,10,121:PL 15 1834A.).
We can see how, throughout her life, the Blessed Mother continually chose to go deeper into her relationship with God. She modeled how to value and respect His precious gift of human life, from the moment of conception to its natural end. In the Annunciation, through her "yes,"
Mary witnessed to the undeniable humanity of unborn children as she conceived and carried the Christ child in her womb. After the
Annunciation, having learned that her cousin Elizabeth was with child, she went in haste to her aid.
Our Blessed Mother shows us how the way we live today can prepare us, in hope, to also enter into heavenly glory at the end of our lives. Are we open to God's precious gift of new life? How do we support expectant mothers and parents of young children? Do we prioritize showing our love and care for loved ones who are ill or aging?
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

La Solemnidad de la Asunción celebra la entrada de la Santísima Virgen a la gloria celestial. El
catecismo explica que María "fue llevada en cuerpo y alma a la gloria del cielo, en donde ella participa ya en la gloria de la resurrección de su Hijo, anticipando la resurrección de todos los miembros de su
cuerpo" (CIC, 974).
La Asunción de María al cielo nos recuerda que la vida en la tierra es una peregrinación a nuestro destino final. Nos preparamos con esperanza para pasar a la vida eterna mediante las decisiones que tomamos hoy. Cuando elegimos vivir y seguir a Dios en nuestra vida cotidiana, fortalecemos nuestra relación con Él, y esta relación es el verdadero sentido del cielo: "Vivir en el cielo es 'estar con Cristo'" (CIC, 1025 citando a San Ambrosio, De Lc.,10,121:PL 15 1834A.).
Podemos ver cómo, durante toda su vida, la
Santísima Madre continuamente eligió profundizar su relación con Dios y ser modelo de cómo valorar y respetar Su preciado don de la vida humana, desde el momento de la concepción a su muerte natural. En la Anunciación, mediante su "sí", María fue testigo de la innegable humanidad de los niños por nacer al concebir y llevar al niño Jesús en su seno. Después de la Anunciación, al haberse enterado de que su prima Isabel estaba encinta, fue de prisa en su ayuda.
Nuestra Santísima Madre nos muestra cómo nuestra forma de vivir hoy nos puede preparar, en la esperanza, para entrar a la gloria celestial al final de nuestra vida. ¿Estamos abiertos al don preciado de Dios de nueva vida? ¿Cómo apoyamos a las madres embarazadas y a los padres de niños pequeños?
¿Priorizamos demostrar nuestro amor y cuidado a nuestros seres queridos enfermos o ancianos?\

Finding the presence of God.
I found a beautiful image of the scene depicted in the book of Kings. The image shows Elijah shrouded and crouched, hiding in a cave. While his body is bent to the ground, his hand is open and receptive. In his hand there’s a tiny leaf, resting gently as if the event was so unexpected.
The Book of Kings tells that Elijah waits to see the Lord, but he’s not found in the earthquake, storm or fire. The sources of nature’s strength and fury are not the place of God, instead he’s found in the quiet whispering sound.
This story mirrors the gospel in the strength and fury of the sea. The apostles fear death as the storm rages. Like Elijah they try to see God present but miss it. In the stern of the boat is Jesus, fast asleep and peaceful. He is the tiny red leaf that slowly descends into the boat and is the presence of God. Calming and peaceful, secure and confident Jesus quiets the sea and reassures the apostles that faith in him is essential.
What harm can come to a follower of Jesus? The gospel says there is no harm because Jesus holds us in his hands. We have our share of suffering and many Christians fear for their lives, but we say that we are safe and protected by Jesus.
Elijah stands as an example for us. He was open to receiving the Lord and watched diligently when he would come. Without a keen sense Elijah would miss the opportunity. Today we are called to be open and receptive to the presence of Christ. We encounter him in each gathering of the baptized, in each Word we read from scripture, in the eucharist. Christ is present and through our faithful living we make Christ available for all people.
“O Christ, when your church is in danger, make firm our trust; when your people falter, steady our faith. Show us your power to save, that we may acclaim you Lord.”

DE LA MISA
Encontrando la presencia de Dios.
Encontré una hermosa imagen de la escena representada en el libro de los Reyes. La imagen muestra a Elijah envuelto y agachado, escondido en una cueva. Mientras su cuerpo está doblado hacia el suelo, su mano está abierta y receptiva. En su mano hay una pequeña hoja, descansando suavemente como si el evento fuera tan inesperado.
El Libro de los Reyes dice que Elijah espera ver al Señor, pero no lo encuentra ni en el terremoto, la tormenta o el fuego. Las fuentes de la fuerza y la furia de la naturaleza no son el lugar de Dios, sino que él se encuentra en el susurro silencioso.
Esta historia refleja el evangelio en la fuerza y la furia del mar. Los apóstoles temen a la muerte mientras la tormenta se desata. Al igual que Elijah, tratan de ver a Dios presente pero lo pierden. En la popa del bote está Jesús, profundamente dormido y pacífico. Él es la pequeña hoja roja que desciende lentamente en el bote y es la presencia de Dios. Tranquilo y pacífico, seguro y confiado, Jesús calma el mar y asegura a los apóstoles que la fe en él es esencial.
¿Qué daño puede venir a un seguidor de Jesús? El evangelio dice que no hay daño porque Jesús nos sostiene en sus manos. Tenemos nuestra parte de sufrimiento y muchos cristianos temen por sus vidas, pero decimos que estamos a salvo y protegidos por Jesús.
Elijah es un ejemplo para nosotros. Estaba abierto a recibir al Señor y observaba diligentemente cuándo él vendría. Sin un sentido agudo Elijah perdería la oportunidad. Hoy estamos llamados a ser abiertos y receptivos a la presencia de Cristo. Nos encontramos con él en cada reunión de bautizados, en cada Palabra que leemos en las Escrituras, en la eucaristía.
Cristo está presente y a través de nuestra vida fiel ponemos a Cristo a disposición de todas las personas.
“Oh Cristo, cuando tu iglesia esté en peligro, haz nuestra confianza firme;
cuando tu pueblo vacile, estabiliza nuestra fe. Muéstranos tu poder para salvar, para que podamos aclamarte Señor.”

HORA SANTA PARA LAS VOCACIONES
11 de Agosto, 7–8 pm, St. Vincent de Paul, Brooklyn Park Todas las personas de la Arquidiócesis están invitadas a
