NOTICE OF VACANCIES FOR THE RECRUITMENT

OF INSTRUMENTAL PERFORMERS

GRAN CANARIA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA

(TEMPORARY VACANCIES)

The Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra hereby makes public the following Conditions that will govern the proceedings for covering 4 TEMPORARY VACANCIES FOR INSTRUMENTAL PERFORMERS (Flute/Flute Piccolo, Oboe/English Horn, Bass Trombone, Harp), ON A TEMPORARY JOB APPOINTMENT.

Gross annual salary for the Soloist category contract is 40.898,28.- euro per year. Each soloist will receive the abovesaid salary in proportion to the duration of his/her contract and/or in proportion to the percentage of time established in his/her contract (flute soloist only).

CONDITIONS 1. Purpose and governing rules

1.1. The purpose of the present public notice of temporary vacancies advertised by the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria (OFGC) is for covering the following vacant positions:

2. Prerequisites of candidates

2. 1 As a prerequisite to be shortlisted for taking part in the auditions, applicants must fulfil the following:

a) The auditions are only open to musicians of any Member State of the EU whose country allows the free movement of workers or to other musicians whose nationality allows the application of the free movement of workers in the terms established in the Spanish

b) Submit a résumé together with proof of such other diplomas or artistic merits as the applicant may deem convenient.

c) Not suffer from or be affected by any physical or psychical handicap inconsistent with the performance of the duties of the position advertised herein.

d) Not be within the purview of any cause of incapacity for legal conflict. 3. Documents

3.1. Applicants wishing to take part in the auditions must follow this procedure:

a) Application in writing according to the form below which is available at the Gran

Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra Headquarter and the website www.ofgrancanaria.com.

b) Send the following documents: Résumé detailing the applicant’s artistic and professional

merits.

c) Photocopy of a valid Identity Card or Passport.

3.2. The above-mentioned documents must be submitted to the venue of the OFGC personally or by mail (Paseo Príncipe de Asturias s/n, 35010-Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain) or by e-mail ([email protected]).

3.3 The deadline for submission of applications will be 6 September 2016.

3.4. Any misrepresentation or fraud in the information supplied by candidates will give rise to the nullity of the proceedings so far, without prejudice to the liabilities which may have been incurred.

3.5. The Management of the OFGC will determine the suitability of candidates for participation in the auditions based on the applications received and will notify the candidates admitted to the auditions. Only candidates previously selected after the study of the documentation submitted will be admitted to the auditions. Candidates admitted will be notified after the closure of the period for submission of applications.

4. Auditions

4.1. Auditions will be held in LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA (Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, Paseo Príncipe de Asturias s/n) on the following dates: Tuesday 20 September 2016, Tuesday 27 September 2016, Wednesday 28 September 2016, from 16.00. Once the preselection is done, candidates will be notified with the date of the audition for each instrument.

4.2. The pieces to be performed by candidates are those listed in Schedule I.

4.3. Auditions will be carried out in ONE qualifying round. Performance behind a screen of the orchestral fragments listed in Schedule I.

4.4. Lots will be drawn by candidates prior to the auditions to determine the audition order. The audition committee may declare the audition of each candidate to be completed when it deems it convenient.

4.5. The Orchestra will make available an accompanying pianist to the candidates who so request it in their application form.

Applicants may also provide their own accompanying pianist. In this case, applicants shall pay for all the expenses.

4.6 The Management of the OFGC reserves the right to interview candidates if it deems it convenient.

4.7. All travel, accommodation, maintenance and other expenses will be for the account of the candidates.

5. Proposal of the Audition Committee and appointment of a candidate

5.1. The candidate finally chosen and proposed by the Audition Committee must submit, within the period of 20 days immediately following his/her appointment, the following documents, which are essential for his/her contract of employment:

- Valid National Identity Card or Passport.

- Medical Certificate stating that the candidate does not suffer any disease, disorder or physical handicap inconsistent with the performance of the duties attached to the post offered.

- Originals or certified copies of the diplomas and certificates supporting the merits and activities alleged in the candidate’s résumé.

- Documents which certify the fulfilment of the prerequisite at part 2 section a) of

these conditions.

5.2. Except in a case of force majeure, when a winning candidate does not submit the documents required or may not prove satisfactorily that he/she fulfils the conditions required, he/she may not be contracted and all proceedings followed so far will be null and void, without prejudice to any liability which the candidate may have incurred for misrepresentation or fraud in his/her

5.3. The OFGC reserves the right to submit the candidate to any medical and/or psycho-technical examinations that may be established, which must be satisfactorily completed by the candidate in question in order to join the OFGC.

5.4. The terms and conditions of service of the musicians appointed will be governed by the provisions of the current Collective Agreement of the OFGC.

5.5. The contract of employment will last from 1 January 2017 to 31 July 2017. 5.6. The vacancies would be filled as Temporary Job Appointments.
