FAMILY LIFE

Family life is sacred, but it is not without trial. Perhaps this is the most important message we can glean from today’s readings. If Jesus, Mary, and Joseph can trip up sometimes—can disconnect—then we shouldn’t find it surprising when such things happen to us as well. And parents everywhere (children, too) can probably relate to— and take some solace in—the Gospel’s account of Mary and Joseph after Jesus explained why he stayed behind in the temple. They heard his words, Luke tells us, “But they did not understand what he said to them” (Luke 2:50). Amen! Nevertheless, Jesus does go back home with them, and continues to thrive under their care.

VIDA FAMILIAR

Sacred Heart Parish Financial Report

The column of numbers on the left shows what we budgeted last fiscal year. The middle column shows what we actually made and spent last year; and the column on the right shows what we actually made and spent the year before that. What you can see is that even though our weekly plate collection was up from what was budgeted, it is still down from the 2013-14 totals. We have managed to keep our expenses down while continuing to make improvements around our parish campus. We know that none of this happens without the generosity of parishioners who give electronically, who use envelopes and who give intentionally each week to support our church and to offer thanksgiving to God for his many blessings. Thanks to all of you good stewards who share your time, talent, and treasure to support Sacred Heart.

Our fiscal year runs from September 1 to August 31. If you have any questions regarding this report, please contact Fr. Ignacio, Dcn. David or Arlala in the Parish Office (424-1959 or scrhrtchurch@sbcglobal.net) ***Tuition assistance to the school was not included in the general operating budget for the 2014-15 fiscal year because the entire amount collected in the special collection is given directly to them (as are the special collections the diocese request we take up monthly).

Also, this report does not include the income and expenses from our buildings and grounds collections and AMA rebate, which are used toward special projects. For info on these $ amounts, please contact Dcn. David or Arlala in the parish office.
