ETHICS

Each student is responsible for completing his/her own work and signing his/her own name on the attendance roster. Duplicating another person’s work or turning in assignments that are not your own will result in a zero on that assignment or quiz for all parties involved. Cheating on a quiz/exam will result in a zero on that quiz/exam. (Refer to the LACCD Policy on Academic Honesty.)

CONDUCT

Students are expected to behave respectfully. Behavior that interferes with the orderly functioning of the

College, interferes with an individual’s pursuit of education, or disrupts the learning environments is prohibited. All electronic devices must be turned off and put away. (Refer to the LACCD Student Code of Conduct).

NATIVE SPEAKERS

This beginning Spanish class is well below the level of any native speaker of Spanish. If you do not wish to learn another language and choose to be in this class in order to meet a college requirement, keep in mind that your instructor will only give you credit for what you accomplish in this course, and not for what you already know. You are required to turn in all assignments and abide by the same course guidelines as all other students; no special accommodations will be made for you. Be aware that some colleges and universities do not award credit for first year Spanish to native speakers; check with your counselor or with the four-year institution.

HIGH SCHOOL & FIRST YEAR COLLEGE STUDENTS

Keep in mind that you have enrolled in a college course. You will be treated as a college student and expected to act like one. Your instructor will not remind you to turn in assignments, nor will she accept them late. You must turn in all assignments when they are due; there will be no extra credit work at the end of the semester to boost your grade if you missed assignments. Additionally, if you have a problem with anything related to the class, YOU (not your parents) must speak to the instructor.

THERE WILL BE NO MAKE-UP EXAMS.

If you miss an exam and have a valid, documented, college- approved excuse, I will give the student a make-up exam. Also, the student must email me prior to the exam.

First week of classes: “A student must attend ALL class sessions of the course that meet during the first week

of the course. Students must contact the instructor by email when ill or need to be absent from class in order to avoid misunderstandings and situations that will adversely affect their grade.

Students who decide to drop the class must officially withdraw and inform the professor.

Students, who do not, will receive an F.
