TODAY’S READINGSFirst Reading — Peter is an eyewitness: The Lord is risen (Acts 10:34a, 37-43).
Psalm — This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad (Psalm 118).
(1) Second Reading — All who are baptized, set your hearts on heaven (Colossians 3:1-4) or
(2) Second Reading — Christ our Passover is sacrificed; therefore let us cele-brate (1 Corinthians 5:6b-8).

On Easter morning when the disciples saw the evi-dence of the Resurrection, they did not at first grasp it. John reports that “they did not yet understand the Scrip-ture that he had to rise from the dead.” We, on the other hand, have both scripture and church tradition to teach us. Jesus Christ’s resurrection is at the core of our Chris-tian faith.
All of today’s readings tell us how compelling this event was for the first Christians. There is great energy in all the readings. Peter preaches with authority and conviction. Paul calls for Christians to change their lives. In the Gospel reading we see Peter and John in a foot-race to reach Jesus’ tomb and see with their own eyes the evidence that they still could not understand or com-pletely believe.
How can some of this Easter energy be restored to us today? Do we let the astonishing news of the Resurrec-tion touch us now? Does it call us to acResurrec-tion? To deeper faith? To conversion? What new life will be reborn in us and our parish community this Easter morning?

ENERGÍA PASCUAL
La mañana de Pascua, cuando los discípulos vieron la evidencia de la Resurrección, primero no entendieron. Juan reporta que “aún no habían comprendido la Escritura, según la cual Jesús debía resucitar de entre los muertos.” Nosotros, por otro lado, tenemos tanto la Sagrada Escritura como la Tradición de la Iglesia. La resurrección de Jesu-cristo es el centro de nuestra fe cristiana.
Todas las lecturas de hoy nos muestran la importancia de este acontecimiento para los primeros cristianos. Hay gran energía en todas las lecturas. Pedro predica con au-toridad y convicción. Pablo urge a los cristianos que cam-bien su vida. En la lectura del Evangelio vemos a Pedro y a Juan corriendo para llegar a la tumba de Jesús y ver con sus propios ojos la evidencia que todavía no pueden en-tender completamente.
¿Cómo podemos restaurar esa energía hoy? ¿Permitiendo que la asombrosa noticia de la resurrección nos conmueva? ¿Nos llame a actuar? ¿A profundizar nuestra fe? ¿A una conversión? ¿Qué nueva vida renacerá en nosotros y en nuestra comunidad parroquial esta ma-ñana de Pascua?
