Wisdom and Risk
If
God were to ask you the same question as Solomon, “Ask
something of me and I will give it to you” what would you ask
for? Solomon in the first reading, because of the great
responsibility given to him as King of Israel, risks power,
riches, a long life, the life of his enemies over wisdom.
Solomon asks for an “understanding heart” to be a just ruler.
What do you desire the most? What would you risk for the
Kingdom? Circumstances in life might tempt us to ask for
health, prosperity, security in life which are all good things
and God promises them all to those who believe, but would
you risk them all to obtain the Kingdom?
When you meditate in this question remember two things: 1)
Wisdom ultimately comes from God and, 2) with wisdom, all
other blessings will flow. Your reward is in heaven, yes God
will bless you here on earth, but seek first the kingdom of God
and its righteousness and all shall be added unto you” (Mt.
6:33). Isn’t the Kingdom worth the risk?
With much love,
