IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING
1. Use extension cord marked SJW-A, SJEW-A, or SJTW-A only. 2. Use only extension cords which have plugs and receptacles
which accept the product’s plug. Replace or repair damaged cords.
3. The electrical rating of the extension cord must be as great as the electrical rating of the product.
4. Never carry product by cord or yank it to disconnect from receptacle. Keep cord from heat, oil, and sharp edges. 5. Disconnect the product from the power supply when not in
use, when changing bulbs and cleaning. 6. Do not insert foreign objects into this product.
7. Outdoor extension cords must be used with outdoor-use products and are surface marked with suffix letters “W-A” and with a tag stating “Suitable for Use with Outdoor Appliances.” 8. The connection to an extension cord should be kept dry and
off the ground.
9. Store products indoors when not in use – out of reach of children.
10. Do not clean this product with a water spray or similar method. 11. The product should only be connected to a circuit that is
protected by a ground-fault circuit-interrupter (GFCI). 12. CAUTION - Risk of UV exposure. Ensure product is installed
such that no continuous human activity is likely to be performed within 1.5 ft. (0.45 m) distance of the unit while illuminated.

Installation/Operation
1. After you have selected a location hang the unit
approximately 7 feet above ground from a tree, pole or
other free-standing object.
2. Plug cord into a compatible outlet or an extension cord
rated for outdoor use.
3. Once connected to an electrical source, the unit will be
on. There is no on/off switch.
4. The unit should be taken down in the event of severe
weather.
Selecting a Location
• As insects are attracted to the light emitted by the unit,
do not place the unit too close to human activity.
• Choose a location approximately 20 feet away from the
area you are trying to protect.
• If there is a body of water or standing water nearby, hang
the unit between you and the source of water, as water is
a breeding ground for most flying insects.
Changing Bulbs
This unit uses a 4 prong, 18 Watt UV bulb. It is
recommended that the bulb be replaced annually to
maintain optimal UV effectiveness.
1. Unplug and remove entire unit from hanging
position.
2. Turn the unit upside down, unscrew the bug
collection tray.
3. Pull the bulb cap off. Do not twist off as this could
damage the bulb.
4. Pull the old bulb out.
5. Slide the new bulb into the socket and push the bulb
cap back on.
6. Twist the bug collection tray back into place.

Cleaning
As the unit kills insects, most of the insect debris will
fall into the bug collection tray. Some debris will be left
on the grids and over time will reduce the effectiveness
of this device. Make sure to regularly clean the grid to
achieve maximum effectiveness. Regularly check and
brush off any insect debris you may see.
1. Unplug unit and remove it from its hanging position.
2. Remove bulb while cleaning to prevent any damage
to the bulb. See instructions in “Changing Bulbs”
section on page 7.
3. Using a small brush, gently remove insect debris from
outer casing and inner grid.
4. Compressed air may be used to safely clean out your
unit.
5. Never use water to clean your unit as water could
damage the inner electrical components.
6. Once the unit is clean, replace the bulb and return
the unit to the desired position and connect to a
power source.
Troubleshooting
Unit will not light, no apparent grid voltage.
Problem
Unit appears to be working properly but insect population does not seem reduced.
Unit is constantly arcing (sparking). Clean the unit per the instructions in this manual . The unit will arc upon plug-in and then stabilize. This is normal.
• Make sure the unit is plugged into working outlet.
• Check bulb to make sure it is seated properly. Replace bulb if necessary.
Solution
• Check surrounding area for sitting water. Insects breed in these areas and should be eliminated at the source.
• Allow more time. It will take some time for insects to find the unit and also for there to be an impact on their reproductive cycle. • Try moving the unit to

INSTRUCCIONES IMPORTANTES DE

LEA TODAS LAS INSTRUCCIONES ANTES DE USAR 1. Use cable de extensión SJW-A, SJEW-A o SJTW-A.
2. Solo use cables de extensión con conectores y receptáculos que acepten el conector del producto. Cambie o repare los cables dañados.

Instalación/Funcionamiento
1. Después de seleccionar una ubicación, cuelgue la
unidad a aproximadamente 7 pies del suelo en un árbol,
poste u otro objeto que se sostenga por si solo.
2. Conecte el cable a un tomacorriente compatible o a un
cable de extensión calificado para uso en exteriores.
3. Una vez conectado a una fuente de alimentación,
puede encender la unidad. No posee interruptor de
encendido/apagado.
4. Debe guardar la unidad en caso de malas condiciones
meteorológicas.
Seleccionar una ubicación
• Los insectos se sienten atraídos a la luz emitida por la unidad; no coloque la unidad demasiado cerca de lugares con actividad humana.
• Elija una ubicación a aproximadamente 20 pies del área que desea proteger.
• Si hay un cuerpo acuático o un estanque de agua cerca, coloque la unidad entre usted y la fuente de agua, ya que el agua es el centro de reproducción de la mayoría de los insectos voladores.
Cambiar el foco
Esta unidad utiliza un foco UV de 18 vatios con 4
conectores. Se recomienda cambiar el foco cada año
para mantener la eficacia óptima de los rayos UV.
1. Desconecte y quite la unidad de donde esté colgada.
2. Vire la unidad al revés y desatornille la bandeja de
desechos de insectos.
3. Quite la tapa del foco. No lo gire, podría dañar el foco.
4. Quite el foco.
5. Deslice el foco nuevo hacia el receptáculo y vuelva a
colocar la tapa del foco.
6. Vuelva a colocar al bandeja de desechos de insectos
en su lugar.

Limpieza
A medida que la unidad mata insectos, la mayoría de
los restos de insectos caerán en la bandeja de desechos
de insectos. Algunos restos quedarán en la rejilla y
con el tiempo reducirán la eficacia del dispositivo.
Asegúrese de limpiar periódicamente la rejilla para
lograr la eficacia máxima. Verifique periódicamente y
quite los restos de insectos que vea.
1. Desconecte y quite la unidad de donde esté colgada.
2. Quite el foco cuando limpie para evitar daños al foco.
Consulte las instrucciones en la sección “Cambiar el
foco” en la página 7.
3. Con suavidad, quite los restos de insectos de la
carcasa exterior y de la rejilla interior con un pincel
pequeño.
4. Se puede utilizar aire comprimido para limpiar la
unidad de forma segura.
5. Nunca use agua para limpiar la unidad ya que el agua
puede dañar las piezas electrónicas.
6. Una vez que la unidad esté limpia, vuelva a colocar el
foco, vuelva a colgar la unidad en la posición deseada
y conéctela a una fuente de alimentación.
Resolución de problemas
La unidad no se enciende, no parece haber tensión en la rejilla.
Problema
La unidad parece estar funcionando correctamente pero la población de insectos no se reduce.
La unidad genera arcos (chispas)
constantemente. Limpie la unidad siguiendo las instrucciones en este manual. La unidad generará un arco al conectarla y luego se estabilizará. Esto es normal.
