Eucharist: To remember is also to love!
"I am the living bread that came down from heaven;
whoever eats this bread will live forever”
Jn 6.Love contains an essential ingredient, the memory. Without the constant exercise of memory, all affection withers and dies. This is why the language of those in love repeats a thousand times: "Do not forget me." An expression that seeks support in the gift of the last date.
Also faith, to advance, requires the living memory of the Lord. Jesus, as good Jew, every year celebrated the Passover meal. And that night of his departure, he was the father of the family who presided the table, among a select group of friends called disciples.
The evangelists tell how the Lord introduced to His disciples a piece of bread and a glass of wine, noting that this would be the sign of a new alliance with those who believed in Him. He immediately ordered them repeat this gesture in His memory.
Then the disciples understood the long discourse on the bread of life, that Jesus had previously recited. The Lord had said that you need to eat His body and drink His blood, to attain the resurrection and bliss.
The first Christian communities met the first day of the week, very early, or at the start of the evening. An apostle or an elder of the group, retold the story of the parting of the Lord and handed bread and wine among the attendees. This assembly began to be called Eucharist, which means thanksgiving. And then was named memorial.
Everyone felt the presence of the Risen Master who revived His walk in faith. They would mention those who had given their lives for the Gospel. They pray for the absentees and for travelers. They cared for the sick and the imprisoned. And above selfishness and tensions of every human group, they tried to keep one heart and one soul. Our Mass was born in the early Church that retain the memory of the risen Jesus.
The memory is a brave ally, which aims to defy time and space. But we well know its fragility. The wind of life strikes at it. But in good riddance Jesus gave us His memorial. That we may be witnesses of what He has done for love. To remember those little glories that we have conquered, when we answer to his love: "Whoever eats this bread will live forever"
Have a nice week!

He is here to tell us how can we help to change the situa on for female babies in India.
According to UNICEF report 50 million female babies were killed in India in the last 10 years by
way of systema c and selec ve gender elimina on. 1600 people die daily due to diarrhea. This
is simply because 100 million in India do not have safe drinking water. 750 millions do not have
toilets which is a big health hazard.
In order to address these issues, Divyavani Social Communica ons is training Catholic
graduates as journalists for mainstream media. These journalists formed with moral
conscience in turn bring about educa on and awareness. We plan on training 160 in batches
of 40 this year. The training cost per student is $200.
You can help us change the situa on for female babies in India by sponsoring half hour
television program. The Telugu Catholic Bishops’ Council has started Divyavani (Divine Voice)
Telugu Catholic TV Channel for social impact. We want to produce programs for public
awareness and educa on on these social evils and unhealthy cultural prac ces. Each half hour
TV episode costs $200.
Pray and listen to your heart , any help will make a difference.
Special thanks to
