Message from the Pastor

God made a pact with His people through Moses, and to this day the Jewish people feel that they are the chosen peo-ple because of that pact. But in Christ this covenant gained its authentic reality, its fulfillment; we are the people of God, a priestly people, a holy assembly in whom the covenant continues to be fulfilled and

is renewed every time we celebrate the Eucharist. When we do that, we celebrate and ratify the infinite mystery of God’s love for man: the great mystery of the Body and Blood of Christ. That is the meaning of each Sunday Mass, and the meaning of this feast of Corpus Christi. All our actions, all our prayers, all our efforts and sufferings, even all the sacraments of the Church and all the liturgy of the Church, in a word, all of Christian life, all that is imbued with Christian sense, is geared to fulfill that covenant with God and to carry it on in us who are the Church, the people of God, precisely because of that covenant.

Mensaje del Párroco

Dios hizo un pacto con su pueblo a través de Moisés, y el pueblo judío, aún hoy, se siente pueblo escogido por ese pacto. Pero en Cristo esa alianza tuvo su auténtica realidad, su pleno cumplimiento, y nosotros somos ese pueblo de Dios, pueblo sacer-dotal, asamblea santa en quienes se sigue cumpliendo la alianza la cual renovamos cada vez que celebramos la Eucaristía. Cuando lo hacemos, celebramos y ratificamos el infinito misterio del amor de Dios al hombre: el gran misterio del Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo. Este es el sentido de la misa de cada domingo y este es el sentido de esta fiesta del Corpus. Todos nuestros actos, todas nuestras oraciones, todos nuestros esfuerzos y sufrimientos, y hasta todos los sacramentos de la Iglesia y toda la liturgia de la Iglesia, en una palabra, toda la vida cristiana, todo lo que tiene un auténtico sen-tido cristiano va encauzado a realizar esta alianza con Dios y a perpetuarla en nosotros que somos Iglesia, somos pueblo de Dios, precisamente gracias a esta alianza.

PRECIOUS BLOOD

On this solemnity we focus our a en on on the Body and Blood of Christ. We listen to the story of the renewal of the old covenant, which Moses sealed by splashing the blood of animals on the altar of sacrifice, as well as on the people. Jesus, whose blood is the blood of the new covenant, shed that precious blood on the cross, saving us from sin and promising us everlas ng life. Blood is the life source that courses through our bodies. The precious blood of Christ is the life source for our spirits. Today may we, like the psalmist, offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the Lord, whose Body and Blood strengthen us to bring the Good News to everyone we meet.

PRECIOSA SANGRE

En esta solemnidad centramos nuestra atención al Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. Escu-chamos el relato de renovación de la an gua alianza, la cual Moisés selló rociando la sangre de animales en el altar de sacrificio, así como en las personas. Jesús, cuya sangre es la sangre de la nueva alianza, derramó esa preciosa sangre en la cruz para salvarnos del pecado y prometernos la vida eterna. La sangre es la fuente de vida que fluye por nuestro cuerpo. La preciosa sangre de Cristo es la fuente de vida de nuestro espíritu. Que hoy, como el salmista, ofrezcamos un sacrifi-cio de agradecimiento al Señor, cuyo cuerpo y sangre nos fortalecen para llevar la Buena Nueva a todos los que conocemos.
