My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,

In order to serve you better we will no longer have the Parish Office open on weekends.

What do I mean? Starting this month we are moving our weekend information and support services to the Holy Boutique and eventually to a new information kiosk at the Grotto. We will be expanding the Holy Boutique to make room for the information center and you will see the international sign for information, the “i”, over the door. Here you will be able to ask questions about what is going on in the parish, pick up and drop off materials, request Mass intentions and light candles for the Adoration Chapel, Grotto, and El Senor de los Milagros Chapel.

In anticipation of the information kiosk at the Grotto we will also be

expanding the support services provided by our Hospitality Team and training volunteers to serve in the booth. When I was in school at the University of Florida I volunteered in just such a booth and found it to be a great way to meet people, to know for myself what was going on and to get engaged in the life of the university. If you would like to join the Hospitality Team and be trained to serve in the information kiosk just send me an email at

msgr@ololourdes.org.

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,

Con el fin de servirles mejor ya no tendremos la oficina parroquial abierta los fines de semana.

¿Qué quiero decir? Comenzando este mes moveremos nuestros servicios de información y apoyo de los fines de semana a la Tienda Religiosa y eventualmente a un nuevo quiosco de información en la Gruta. Estaremos expandiendo la Tienda Religiosa para hacer espacio para el centro de

información y vera la señal internacional de información, la “i” sobre la puerta. Aquí podrá hacer preguntas sobre lo que está pasando en la parroquia, recoger y depositar materiales, solicitar intenciones de Misa y encender velas para la Capilla de Adoración, la Gruta y la Capilla del Señor de los Milagros. Anticipando el Quiosco de información en la Gruta estaremos expandiendo también los servicios de apoyo de nuestro Equipo de Hospitalidad y entrenaremos voluntarios para servir en el Quiosco. Cuando yo estaba en la Escuela en la Universidad de la Florida hice de voluntario en un quiosco parecido y encontré que es una manera de conocer personas, de aprender por mí mismo qué estaba pasando, y envolverse en la vida de la Universidad. Si a usted le gustaría unirse al Equipo de Hospitalidad y ser entrenado para servir en el quiosco de información solo envíeme un correo electrónico a

Ask Monsignor

Starting this July you can “Ask Monsignor”! On the third

Saturday of each month from 9:00am to 10:00am, following

the morning Mass, in Bishop Isern Hall we will present “Ask

Monsignor”. There you can ask about the ministry and life of

the parish. You can ask about our plans for the future.

You can ask about the Catholic Faith or the teachings of the

Church. Really, you can ask anything that is appropriate for

a public forum. I might not have all the answers but we will

search them out together. I look forward to seeing you there.

The School of Ministry forms lay men and women who desire to grow in their understanding of the Catholic faith and in

their ability to serve the Church. Over the course of two years, participants develop knowledge in spirituality, theology,

and pastoral ministry. Upon completion of the certificate program, graduates find they are closer to Jesus and are better

able to serve in their parish and community.

La Escuela de Ministerios forma hombres y mujeres laicos/as que desean crecer en la comprensión de la fe católica y

discernir su habilidad de servir a la Iglesia. En el transcurso de dos años, los participantes desarrollan conocimientos en

On Saturday, June 24th, The Lectors Ministry of OLOL had a very informative and successful meeting. Wayne Carter, the

new, Coordinator, who assumed the responsibility from Berny Bustamante after a tenure of eight years, called his first

meeting of those serving our Parish as Lectors.

Our Pastor, Msgr. Schwanger and Deacon Plummer, were both present to address our Lectors. Their collective message

was one of broadening our understanding and purpose of being a Lector, with an invitation to expand the knowledge of

our Catholic faith, so we may better serve our Parish Community.

Training for new Lectors will be announced shortly and we invite those

interested in proclaiming God’s Word, to contact us through our website. God Bless.
