The Internet Forum, one of the activities foreseen in the Pilot project is on line since July 2006.

We promote a radio program in the local radio - Rádio Ondas do Lima - so people, who don’t use internet, can participate and discuss some themes about the Historical Centre. Those programs took place between 2 of November and 14 of December 2006, twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6h00 pm until 7h00 pm. Achieved results: Ex. Knowledge of the morphology of Baeza city in the Renaissance in order to obtain citizen heritage awareness. Citizen participation in Allariz in municipal initiatives.
The citizen participation promoted through the Internet Forum was not as active as we expect in the beginning. We register 5200 accesses to the forum, people normally read the messages but, for the reduce number of sent messages, we conclude that they don’t participate in a active way. We truly believe that in the future citizens, that are more often familiarize with internet, will use in a more intensive and active way these opportunity that is given through the internet forum. We increase the publicity of the existence of the Internet Forum, using the radio and brochures, trying to stimulate it’s use.
To minimise this deficiency, the municipal council use other more traditional and popular mean of communication and information, such as a local radio programme. In this way opportunities for participation were extended to a greater number of citizens, preventing what might be called the social exclusion through the Internet. The participation using this communication tool become to be more successful then internet, at least at the present moment this experience work better.
Foreseen Effects. Ex. People awareness of the heritage and positive repercussion in the conservation of the historic city.
Trough this experience it was possible, beside the main objective of promoting citizen participation and involvement in issues related to heritage preservation, to do some interesting radio programs about the historical centre. For those programs we invite some experts in historical, archaeological, tourism, environment and transports who provide information trying at the same time to awareness citizens to the importance of historical centre valorisation and respect. Through the opinions that we could register about the radio program, activity that we intent to repeat in the future, there was an important contribute to develop a new conscience of the importance and richness of our heritage, as well, as the importance of it’s preservation.

We made a brochure that explains the main objectives of the Ágora Virtual and to encourage people to participate in the internet forum
Continuity expectations
We pretend to maintain the Internet Forum, that will always need to be updated and adjusted in new modern versions, as well as increase the motivation to the citizens to use it.
We will put in the air a knew pack of radio programs with a pedagogic concern about the need to preserve the heritage in the historical centre.
Link up with the transversal European policies: Gender, environment, sustainable policy, etc.
- Increase and motivate civic participation through the exchange of opinions on current issues and designs for the Historic Centre.
- Mobilise and ensure the participation of citizens with respect to matters of public administration is essential for the development and promotion of equal opportunities in the society and an important factor to qualify the human capital that can indeed be a differentiating feature between territories, giving rise to different levels of development.
