Father Joachim Lepcha Padre Joachim Lepcha
When we think or imagine about a narrow door, we
feel uneasy, uncomfortable, and we will have a sense of difficulty to enter through that door. Jesus makes it very clear to us his followers, that the “door to
eternal life is narrow.” (Luke 13:24) It means thosewho struggle and suffer for the sake of the truth, justice and love will enter into it; those who “endure
trials as the discipline of God.” (Heb. 12:11)Today in our society, the word discipline is very negative. We learn from nature, a tender plant is tied with wire to a support so that it may grow straight, flower and bloom, ultimately it bears good fruits. A plant which is not guided by the tied wire cannot stand straight and thus it may grow wild on the ground, become a bush, and even if it bears flowers and fruits it will not be a healthy one. The word
‘discipline’ frightens away people. The discipline is the name of the game. We need discipline in every sphere of life. Discipline brings perfection in our lives. Today, we don’t talk about discipline, in our families, schools and educational institutions, and even in the professional field. The truth is
‘discipline’ comes from the word ‘disciple.’ It means it is really hard to be a disciple of Jesus because his teaching, narrows down all our physical, moral, and spiritual freedom that we desire.
Good discipline has the power to transform trials into triumphs, pain into peace. If we try our best, and try it now, to go through this narrow door of trials as the disciple of God, we are sure to enter our eternal home, prepared by God not for just a chosen few but for all. The Narrow door means choosing the narrow way and the narrow gate of self-control and self-disciplining of our evil tendencies, evil habits, and addictions. The narrow door means loving others, seeing the face of Jesus in them, and sharing our blessings with them sacrificially. The narrow door means obtaining the daily Divine strength to practice self-control and sharing love through the guidance of the Holy Spirit in daily prayer, in Bible reading, and in reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.
The Narrow Door La Puerta Angosta

School buses are the most regulated vehicles on the road, and they are designed to be safer than any other vehicle your child can ride in. As we begin another school year, parents should go over safety rules with their children. Safety begins at the bus stop, where children should pay attention to other cars on the road, and always wait with a parent or safe group of
neighbors. For more information about school bus safety, visit https://www.nhtsa.gov/road-safety/school- bus-safety.
