Entonces, cuando el
Señor Jesús les había

The Ascension means Jesus ascended into heaven to open the gates of heaven for us. But in order for us to pass through those gates, we have a new mission. Our new mission is Jesus’ mission. Our new mission is to save ourselves and to help others to save themselves. How? Jesus is going to give us the power.
Today Jesus is saying to us: “welcome home!” “I’m alive more than ever now. And I’m at home in your heart. Come into the Church and receive my power and then go--go out into the world on a new mission.” “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all na ons, bap zing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, un l the end of the age” (Mt. 28:19-20).
That is our new mission. First we need to come into the Church and receive the power. Receive the power of the Holy Spirit when you encounter Jesus Christ over and over again in the sacraments, especially Holy Communion, and in the truth, when you hear His Word. Grow in faith and fall madly in love with Jesus Christ when you experience how much He loves you. Be filled with a joy that has to be shared when you discover Jesus Christ is alive and well, and living in and among us. And let’s keep coming to Church and doing that over and over again so that Jesus Christ becomes a part of who we are, and all that we do. But we can’t just keep it to ourselves. So let’s go out into the world and share the joy of the Gospel with every sin-gle person we will ever meet. Let’s make disciples. How? Here’s the secret: Let’s live what we want to become and become what we live. Let’s live like Jesus and become like Jesus. That means we have to become a humble servant for others. Remember the one thing Jesus kept saying over and over again: “Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.” (Mk. 9:25; Mt. 20:26; 23:11; Lk. 22:26; Jn. 13:13-17).
Then we have to love, accept, and forgive others, even our enemies, just like Jesus loves, accepts, and forgives us (Mt. 5:1-11, 38-48; 6:12-15; Jn. 13:34; 15:12). That means we have to give food to the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, give clothing to the naked, welcome any stranger, care for the sick, and visit those in prison (Mt. 25:31-46). Do you know what is going to happen? Our heart will be changed into the Jesus heart. We will become like Jesus and it will be contagious. People are going to see us and say: “How can they be so happy? How can they feel joy? Why aren’t they worried? Why aren’t they afraid?” And finally: “I want what they have.” Am I sure it’s going to work? Of course. Because the world does not sa sfy what people long for in their hearts. Sooner or later people re-alize that all the money, power, and pleasure in the world does not make us happy. Sooner or later people realize they have no real purpose in life, and their life is meaningless.
So when someone asks us, “Hey, what’s your secret?” we have the answer. The answer is simple. Jesus Christ has died, Jesus Christ has risen, and Jesus Christ will come again to bring you into salva on. Jesus Christ loves you with an everlas ng love and died so that your sins would be forgiven. But let’s do more than just say it. Let’s show them. Let’s bring them to the power. Let’s invite our brothers and sisters to mass. And let’s ask our brothers and sisters who are suffering, if we can pray for them.
La Ascensión significa que Jesús ascendió al cielo para abrir las puertas del cielo para nosotros. Pero para poder pasar a través de esas puertas, tenemos una nueva mi-sión. Nuestra nueva misión es la misión de Jesús. Nuestra nueva misión es salvarnos y ayudar a los demás a
salvarse. ¿Cómo? Jesús nos va a dar el poder.
Hoy Jesús nos dice: "¡Bienvenido a casa!" "Estoy vivo aho-ra más que nunca. Y estoy en casa dentro de tu coaho-razón. Vengan dentro de la iglesia y reciban mi poder y luego vayan—vayan fuera al mundo en una nueva misión " “Vayan, pues, y enseñen a todas las naciones, bau zán-dolas en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo, y enseñándolas a cumplir todo cuanto yo les he mandado; y sepan que yo estaré con ustedes todos los días, hasta el fin del mundo” (Mt. 28:19-20).
Esa es nuestra nueva misión. Primero tenemos que venir a la iglesia y recibir el poder. Recibe el poder del Espíritu Santo cuando enes un encuentro con Jesucristo una y otra vez en los sacramentos, especialmente la sagrada Comunión, y en la verdad, cuando escuche su Palabra. Crece en la fe y cay locamente enamorado de Jesucristo cuando experimentas lo mucho que te ama. Llénate con una alegría que se ene que compar r cuando descubres que Jesucristo está vivo y bien, y viviendo dentro y entre nosotros. Y vamos a seguir viniendo a la Iglesia y hacien-do eso una y otra vez para que Jesucristo se haga parte de lo que somos y todo lo que hacemos.
Pero no podemos guardarlo solo para nosotros. Así que vamos a salir al mundo y compar r la alegría del Evange-lio con todas las personas que podamos conocer. Vamos a hacer discípulos. ¿Cómo? Este es el secreto: Vamos a vivir lo que queremos llegar a ser y llegar a ser lo que vivi-mos. Vamos a vivir como Jesús y legar a ser como Jesús. Eso significa que tenemos que conver rnos en un humil-de sirviente para los humil-demás. Recuerdan lo que dijo Jesús una y otra vez: "El que quiera ser el primero, ene que ser el úl mo de todos y el servidor de todos" (Marcos 9:25; Mt 20:26; 23:11; Lc 22:26; Jn 13:13-17).
Entonces tenemos que amar, aceptar y perdonar a los demás, hasta nuestros enemigos, así como Jesús nos ama, nos acepta y nos perdona a nosotros (Mt. 5:1-11, 38 -48; 6:12-15; Jn 13:34; 15:12). Eso significa que tenemos que dar de comer al hambriento, dar de beber al sedien-to, dar ropa a los desnudos, dar la bienvenida al
extranjero, cuidar a los enfermos y visitar a los presos (Mt 25:31-46).
Saben lo que va a pasar? Nuestro corazón se va conver r en el corazón de Jesús. Vamos a llegar a ser como Jesús y va ser contagioso. Gente nos van a ver y decir: "¿Cómo pueden ser tan feliz? ¿Cómo pueden sen r alegría? ¿Por qué no están preocupados? ¿Por qué no enen miedo?” Y por fin, “Yo quiero lo que ellos enen." ¿Estoy seguro de que va a trabajar? Por supuesto. Porque el mundo no sa sface lo que las personas anhelan en sus corazones. Tarde o temprano la gente se da cuenta de que todo el dinero, el poder, y el placer en el mundo no nos hace feli-ces. Tarde o temprano la gente se dan cuenta de que de veras no enen un propósito en la vida, y su vida no ene sen do. Así que cuando alguien nos pregunta: "Oye, ¿cuál es tu secreto?" Tenemos la respuesta. La respuesta es simple. Jesucristo ha muerto, Jesucristo ha resucitado, y Jesucristo va venir de nuevo para llevarte a la salvación. Jesucristo te ama con un amor eterno y murió para que tus pecados fueran perdonados. Pero vamos hacer mas que decirlo. Vamos a enseñarles. Vamos a traerlos al po-der. Vamos a invitar a nuestros hermanos y hermanas a la misa. Y vamos a pedirles a nuestros hermanos y
hermanas cuando sufren, si podemos orar por ellos.
