Hello St. Dominic’s,
My name is Fr. Jim Olofson and I am the new parochial vicar here at St.
Dominic’s. I am one of the seven newly ordained priests in our diocese, so I have been a priest for just about a month. I am very excited to be start- ing here in Bolingbrook, and I look forward to serving you in the coming years. To introduce myself a little bit, I grew up in Roselle at St. Walter’s
Parish and am a proud product of Catholic schools, St. Walter’s Grade School and St.
Francis High School. My parents, Peggy and Carl, have been married for 30 years, and I have two younger sisters, Mary Kate and Maggie. I currently hold the esteemed title of “Youngest Priest in the Diocese,” so while I may not come with much priestly experi- ence, I look forward to learning how to live this life with all of you. I studied for 4 years at St. John Vianney College Seminary in St.
Paul, MN, and I just recently completed 4 years of theology studies at Mundelein Sem- inary in Mundelein, IL. In my free time, I love to hang out with friends, watch White Sox Baseball or Fighting Illini Football and Basketball, or spend some time outside. I look forward to getting to know many of you, and know that I have been praying for you since I received this assignment during Holy Week. Please pray for me as I begin this new stage of my own life, and let us al- ways work together to grow in friendship with Jesus Christ.

Me llamo Padre Jim Olofson y soy el vicario nuevo aquí en Santo Domingo. Soy uno de los siete sacerdotes nuevos de la diócesis y por eso tengo un mes como sacerdote.
Estoy muy emocionado empezar aquí en Bolingbrook y servirles por los próximos años. Para introducirme a mí mismo, soy de Roselle de la parroquia de San Walter, y estudié toda mi vida en escuelas católicas. Mis padres, Peggy y Carl, han estado casados por treinta años, y tengo dos hermanitas, Mary Kate y Maggie. En este momento, tengo el título del “Sacerdote Más Joven en la Diócesis.” Por eso no vengo con mucha experiencia como un sacerdote, pero estoy listo para aprender como vivir esta vida con ustedes. Estudié en dos seminarios, San Juan Vianney en Minnesota y Mundelein Seminary en Mundelein, IL. He estudiado español por muchos años, incluyendo un verano de inmersión en Lima, Perú.
Ustedes van a escuchar que mi español no es perfecto, pero yo sé que voy a mejorar durante mi tiempo aquí. ¡Y pido su ayuda en este trabajo! Estoy emocionado conocerles y he estado rezando por ustedes desde cuando recibí este asigno en Semana Santa. The individual should have experience in managing a multi building property. Knowledge of state and federal safety and maintenance regulations/requirements will be helpful.

Parents must be registered parishioners of St. Dominic. Prior to Baptism, attendance at the monthly Baptism preparation meeting is required for both parents and godparents. It is recommended to attend the class while you’re still pregnant.
