DECLARACIÓN DE LA MISIÓN

Hoy celebramos la Ascensión de Cristo al cielo y su elección de los discípulos para que continuaran su misión en el mundo. Primero escuchamos la descripción de Lucas de dichos acontecimientos en los primeros versículos de los Hechos de los Apóstoles. Luego escuchamos palabras de aliento y consejo en la carta a los efesios. Por último, escuchamos el relato de Marcos de la Ascensión, que predice las

poderosas palabras y obras que la comunidad cristiana hará en nombre de Jesús.

Juntas, estas lecturas nos brindan una visión de la misión de la Iglesia de Jesucristo, una especie de declaración de misión. Como las

declaraciones de misión de nuestras parroquias y empresas, esta

MISSION STATEMENT

Today we celebrate Christ’s ascension into heaven and his

commissioning of the disciples to carry on his mission in the world. First we hear Luke’s description of those events in the opening verses of the Acts of the Apostles. Next we hear words of encouragement and guidance from the Letter to the Ephesians. Finally we hear Mark’s account of the Ascension, foretelling the mighty words and acts the Christian community would do in Jesus’ name.

Together these scriptures give us a vision of the mission of the church of Jesus Christ - a mission statement of sorts. Like mission statements in our parishes and corporations, this mission statement can help us set priorities and focus our activities. It can guide and support us as we strive to continue Christ’s messianic mission on earth. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

GET ON THE BUS: This year, on June 9th_{, 7 buses full} of children will be arriving at our two local prisons in Soledad. Our parish and school will sponsor a bus full of children traveling from Long Beach and Los Angeles. Children will spend precious time with their Dads inside, talking, hugging, playing board games, having a family photo taken, and sharing a special family lunch together. From Bishop Garcia’s letter to all Parishes, “It is my fervent hope that once again this year you will open your hearts to share in this important ministry.” More than $3,000 was contributed by Sacred Heart Parish and School last year. Your kindness and generosity truly changes the lives of our Get on the Bus families. Please help again this year by contributing to next weekend’s special collection. GET ON THE BUS: La parroquia de Sagrado Corazón adoptó el programa llamado “Get on the Bus” este año por otra vez. Es un programa que junta a niños con sus padres y madres cuales están encarcelados para que juntos puedan celebrar el día de los padres y madres.

Siete autobuses llevan a los niños a dos prisiones en Soledad el día 9 de junio. Nuestro autobús es el número 5 y viene de Long Beach y Los Ángeles.

Después de estar separados de sus padres por mucho tiempo, los niños se reconectan con ellos, la interacción es positiva y gozosa. Los momentos en el salón de visitas son preciosos e inolvidables para todas las familias. Incluso el ambiente es feliz y profundamente emocional. Su generosidad, compasión, oraciones y apoyo mejoran las vidas de las familias de “Get on the Bus.”

that God will care for us. We want to share that joy with others. As vines

Through the Eucharist, Christ feeds and nourishes us not only for ourselves but also that we have the strength to go forth and bear fruit. The fruit that God wants us to bear is new disciples for him, connecting others to him through their relationship with us. We have this power in us. We have this call from the Lord.

Many have responded generously to Jesus' call as catechists and helpers to evangelize and to share the Good News of God’s great love with the children and youth of Sacred Heart Parish. If you like to join them and share the ministry of catechesis, please call the office at 772-8230. There will be a meeting at the parish hall on Wednesday, May 23 at 5 p.m. (English) and at 6:30 p.m. (Spanish). All new and old catechists are required to attend this meeting which will prepare all to meet the safety requirements to serve as volunteers in the coming year. UNA INVITACION A COMPARTIR LA BUENA NOTICIA! "Vayan por todo el mundo y predicad el Evangelio a cada criatura." – Marcos 16:15 Nuestra fe nos llama a la Eucaristía, para cuidar de los pobres y a la

evangelización. Como buscar y cultivar una relación personal con Cristo, experimentamos gozo en la paz y el conocimiento que Dios cuidará de nosotros. Es natural entonces quiere compartir esa alegría con los demás. Como una vida conectado a la rama, nuestra fuente de vida es Jesucristo. Tenemos una misión para ayudar a conectar a otros a Jesús. A través de la Eucaristía, Cristo alimenta y nos nutre no sólo para nosotros mismos, sino que tenemos la fuerza para salir y dar sus frutos. El fruto que Dios quiere dar es nuevos discípulos para él, otros conectar a él a través de su relación con nosotros. Tenemos este poder en nosotros. Tenemos este llamado del Señor.

Como catequistas y ayudantes han respondido generosamente a este llamado para evangelizar y para compartir la buena noticia del gran amor de Dios con los niños y jóvenes en la parroquia Sagrado Corazón. Si quieres servir como una catequista por favor llamen al oficina 772-8230. Vamos a tener una junta para preparos en la seguridad. Invitamos todos los catequistas para participar en este junta será miércoles a las 5 pm en Ingles y a las 6:30 pm en español en el salón de la Iglesia.
