Bienvenidos a la clase de AP español Lenguaje y Cultura

¡Felicitaciones por escoger la clase de AP! Para que no olvides lo que has aprendido es necesario que practiques. Es importante que escuches música en español, leas periódicos o revistas, veas programas de televisión y hables con amigos en español.

En esta clase no solo te prepararás para el examen de AP sino que mejorarás el uso del español escrito y hablado, de manera que al final del curso puedas comunicarte con más fluidez.

Espero que vengas con mucho entusiasmo y ganas de participar ACTIVAMENTE en clase para hacerla productiva y divertida.

Tarea del verano para la clase de AP de español.

1. Primera Parte: AP exam → Become familiar with the AP exam and write a summary. (20 points) 2. Segunda Parte: Listen to Spanish one hour per week (8 hours total). (30 points)

3. Tercera Parte: Read and write in Spanish. Read 8 articles and write a mini summary and opinion.

(30 points)

4. Cuarta Parte: Present your Summer work to the class. Oral activity. (20 points)

Mientras decides cómo vas a prepararte para la clase, voy a asignarte algunas actividades que te ayudarán a estar listo y disfrutar el curso.

Fecha de entrega: El primer día de clase (NO SE ACEPTAN EXCUSAS).)

Prepara una carpeta (binder) bien presentada para mantener un registro de lo que vayas haciendo. Usa las hojas anexas para escribir y presentar tu tarea.

PRIMERA PARTE: Familiarízate con el examen de AP (one time and done assignment!)

Become familiar with everything that is published on the AP website about this exam. The test changes periodically, so try to find out specifically about the 2014 exam (the last year the exam format was changed).

Después de leer todo, haz un resumen (+/- 250 palabras) en español acerca de lo que aprendiste del examen. Incluye algunas ideas de cuáles serán tus mejores métodos para estudiar durante el año.

Puedes también incluir tus deseos (¡Subjuntivo!), planes, áreas de preocupación, etc. Usa la tabla al final de este documento para escribir tu respuesta. ESCRIBE LEGIBLEMENTE Y ORGANIZADO.

(After you have read through everything, write a short summary (+/-250 words) in Spanish of what you have learned about the exam. Include some ideas of how you will be able to best study over the course of the year. You can also include your hopes (¡subjuntivo!), plans, areas of concern, etc.)

You will be awarded 20 points for completing this assignment fully and completely; this assignment will be graded for completion.

SEGUNDA PARTE: (weekly for 8 weeks of summer)

Escuchar español: Tú vas a invertir al menos 8 horas escuchando español auténtico. Una hora por semana.

Puedes escuchar blogs, programas d televisión etc. Vas a documentar la página web, nombre del programa, etc. Debes variar la clase de programas que escuchas. Encuentra algo que te interese. Puede ser un poco difícil de entender al comienzo, así que escúchalo más de una vez, toma notas, etc.

You will need to spend at least 8 hours listening to authentic Spanish this summer, one hour per week. You may listen to the radio, CDs, streaming radio, podcasts or TV/movies. You will document the web page, radio name, etc. You will want to vary the type of material you listen to. Find something that interests you. At the beginning it may be hard to understand the first time, so you may listen to it more than once, take notes, etc.

TERCERA PARTE: (weekly for 8 weeks of summer)

Lectura y escritura: Escoge ocho (8) artículos interesantes. Cada semana lee un artículo en español y escribe a mano un resumen y opinión personal del mismo. Puedes utilizar un diccionario si lo necesitas, pero NO PUEDES USAR UN TRADUCTOR, si lo usas lo sabré inmediatamente y tu nota para la asignación será un CERO.

El RESUMEN DEL ARTÍCULO DEBE SER DE UN MINI-PÁRRAFO. LA OPINIÓN PERSONAL/COMENTARIO de 2 PÁRRAFOS. APROXIMADAMENTE 150 palabras por artículo.

Read eight articles (one per week) and write a summary and opinion in Spanish by hand. You may use a dictionary but don’t use a translator, if you do, I’ll know it and your grade will be zero. Write about 150 words per article.

You need to include a copy of the article you read.

• Students are required to abide by an honor code that forbids them from cheating, lying and stealing, both within the academic world and as members of the general society. I expect this commitment from you. What this means is that you are expected to complete all assignments on your own, without consulting native-speakers or translation devices of any kind. Your work should represent what you are capable of doing using as resources your mind, grammar books or notes and a dictionary. Translation devices are prohibited at all times. Anyone found in violation of these policies will be subjected to loss of credit for the assignment and/or disciplinary action.

IMPORTANTE: No esperes hasta la última semana para hacer tu tarea de verano.
