LA RESURRECCIÓN
"No es grande cosa creer que Cristo muriese; porque esto también lo creen los paganos y judíos y todos los inicuos: todo creen que murió. La fe de los cristianos es la Resurrección de Cristo; esto es los que tenemos por cosa grande el creer que resucitó" (San Agustín, Comentarios sobre el salmo 120).
"La razón de que los discípulos tardaran en creer en la Resurrección del Señor, no fue tanto por su flaqueza como por nuestra futura firmeza en la fe; pues la mis- ma resurrección demostrada con muchos argumentos a los que dudaban, ¿qué otra cosa siginifica sino que nuestra fe se fortalece por su duda?" (San Gregorio Magno, Homilía 16 sobre los evangelios).
"Después de la tristeza del sábado resplandece un día feliz, el primero entra todos, iluminado con la primera de las luces, ya que en él se realiza el triunfo de Cristo resucitado" (San Jerónimo, comentario al Evangelio de San Marcos 16).
"Y dicho esto, les mostró las manos y los pies. En los que vieron claramente los vestigios de los clavos; y según San Juan, también les enseño el costado que había sido abierto con la lanza, para que, viendo las cicatrices de las heridas, pudiesen curar las heridas de sus duidas. Y no quiso curar estas señales; en primer lugar, para confirmar en sus discípulos la fe de la resur- rección; en segundo lugar para poder enseñárselas a su Padre cuando intercediese por nosotros, mani-
festándole la clase de muerte que por nosotros había sufrido; en tercer lugar, par demostrar siempre a los redimidos con su muerte el gran amorque con ellos empleó, presentándoles las señales de su pasión; final- mente, para probar el día del juicio la justicia con que serán condenados los impíos" (San Beda, en Catena Aurea, vol. VI, p. 548).

Es, para nosotros, la fies- ta de las fiestas, la solemnidad de las solemnidades, que es superior a todas las demás, no sólo a las fiestas humanas y terrenales, sino también a las fiestas del mismo Cristo que se celebran en su honor, igual que el sol supera a las estrellas" (San Gregorio Nacianceno, Oración 45, 2).
"Y entrando, no hallaron el cuerpo del Señor. No habiendo encontrado el Cuerpo de Jesús, porque había resucitado, eran agitadas por diversas ideas; y como amaban tanto al Señor y se hallaban tan apenadas por su desaparición, merecieron la presencia de un án- gel" (San Cirilo, en Catena Aurea, vol. VI, p. 524).
"Se aprovecharon tanto los Apóstoles de la Ascensión del señor que todo lo que antes les causaba miedo, después se convirtió en gozo. Desde aquel momento elevaron toda la contemplación de su alma a la divini- dad sentada a la diestra del padre, y ya no les era ob- stáculo la vista de su cuerpo para que la inteligencia, iluminada por la fe, creyera que Cristo, ni descendien- do se había apartado del Padre, ni con su Ascensión se había apartado de sus discípulos" (San León Magno, Sermón 74).
