St. Paul reminds us in his letter today that we are God’s chosen, adopted children. We have been blessed by God in being called and in being given a special share in His life. But this blessing requires that we accept the responsibility of discipleship. Like Amos, though we may not understand why God has given us this blessing and task, we will be given the grace to see it through in faithfulness and trust.

New Summer Youth Night Format!
Over the summer and the next school year we are looking to try new things for our Youth Ministry. Our main goal for Youth Ministry is to assist and sup- port our family’s growth in their faith and
relationship with Christ.
One of the new things we plan on doing is combining our Middle School and High School Youth Nights. This will enable our youth to interact more and at the same time, open a space to plan a social event for the youth each month.
We will invite all youth to participate and form friendships through their faith.
At the youth night we will play games, have praise & worship, pray and then listen to a message. Then we would split up youth into their age group (MS/HS) and share in small group what they received from the message given. This new set up will be effective as of the month of July.
For our Family Nights we would like to include all families with school aged children (kinder - 12th grade). We believe that all families with children will one day participate in our parish youth program and coming together to share a meal will build our parish community!! So bring your favorite dish to share and your family to grow in our faith with our parish community!
¡Un Formato Nuevo para las Noches Juveniles este Verano!
Durante el verano y el próximo año escolar trataremos nuevas cosas con nuestro Ministerio Juvenil. Nuestro objetivo principal para el Ministerio Juvenil es el de ayudar y apoyar el crecimiento de la familia en su fe y en su relación con Cristo.
Una de las nuevas cosas que planeamos hacer es combinar nuestras noches juveniles de secundaria y preparatoria. Esto permitirá a nuestros jóvenes a interactuar más y al mismo tiempo, abrir un espacio para planificar un evento social para los jóvenes cada mes. Invitaremos a todos los jóvenes a participar y a formar amistades a través de su fe.
En la noche juvenil se jugaran juegos, tendremos alabanza y adoración, oraremos y luego escucharemos un mensaje. Luego se dividirá el grupo según sus edades (Secundaria/Preparatoria) para compartir en un grupo más pequeño lo que recibieron del mensaje dado. Esta nueva configuración se empezara el mes de julio.
Para nuestras Noches de Familia nos gustaría incluir a todas las familias con niños en edades del kínder al grado 12. Creemos que todas las familias con niños, que algún día serán partícipes en nuestro programa juvenil de la parroquia, al empezar a reunirse para compartir una comida reforzaran nues- tra comunidad parroquial. ¡Así que traiga su platillo favorito para compartir y a toda su familia para crecer en nuestra fe como comunidad parroquial!
Diocesan Softball Tournament
The High School Youth will be participating in the annual Diocesan Soft- ball Tournament on July 26. Any High School Youth that would like to participate please contact Andie or Arianna. Practices are on Wednesday Nights from 6pm-8pm.

Pre-Registration for 2015-2016 Religious Education - All families that are currently participating in Religious Education classes can come by the RE Office, during posted office hours, and pre-register for the upcom- ing 2015-2016 year. Your family’s current year fees must be paid in full or arrangements must be made with a member of the RE Staff.

Grace Hospice is seeking compassionate individuals who are willing to pro- vide companionship and support to our patients and their family members.
Volunteers are a vital part of our hospice team because family members often become overwhelmed and need the assistance that our volunteers can offer.
Grace Hospice Volunteers also provide friendly visits to our patients, and of- fer them additional companionship and solace during a time when they need it the most. We are looking for volunteers to help us with the following tasks:

*Support for the caregiver
*Running errands for the patient/caregiver

The Charismatic Renewal of the Diocese is celebrating a Healing Mass starting with Praise and Worship on Friday July 17, 2015 at 7:00 PM, followed by mass with a Healing Service. News from the Principal’s Desk
As we move into our final weeks of summer, it’s time to start preparing our students for the new academic year. During these next four weeks, it would be a good time to review with your children key learning activities so they are ready for school. In Math, a review of math computation and multiplication facts is helpful. You should practice reading to and with your child using texts that are grade level appropriate. Talk to them about the content of everything you read or watch together to help them with comprehension. This also is a great way to practice being an active reader. Active readers interact with the text, so they are always predicting, questioning, and summarizing. For little ones, practice writing numbers and letters along with their names.
Also, for all elementary students, you should help them memorize their address and phone numbers. Finally, as we get closer to the first day of school, re-establishing a nightly and morning routine will help the beginning of school go so much smoother.
We are still enrolling for the new school year. There are still open- ings in both PreK-3 and PreK-4 year old classes. Call or stop by the school for more information.

A medida que avanzamos en nuestras últimas semanas de verano, es hora de empezar a preparar a nuestros estudiantes para el nuevo año académico.
Durante estas próximas cuatro semanas, sería bueno repasar actividades de apre- ndizaje claves para que los niños estén listos para la escuela. En matemáticas, sería útil repasar las tablas de multiplicación y resolver algunos problemas de matemáticas básicos. Se debe practicar la lectura con su hijo(a) usando textos que sean a nivel del grado apropiado. Hable con ellos sobre el contenido de todo lo que lean o vean juntos para ayudarles con la comprensión. También es una gran manera de practicar ser un lector activo. Los lectores activos interactúan con el texto, para que así siempre puedan predecir, preguntar y resumir. Para los pequeños, el practicar escribir números y letras junto con sus nombres.
También, para todos los estudiantes de primaria, usted debería ayudarles a memorizar su número de teléfono y dirección. Finalmente, a medida que nos acercamos al primer día de escuela, el restablecer una rutina todas las noches y por la mañana le ayudará a principios de la escuela.

The Santa Cruz Catholic School Advisory Board has openings for two new members. The Advisory Board meets every other month on the fourth Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The School Advisory Board (SAB) acts in an advisory capacity to the Pastor. It formulates and evaluates polices for the parochial school and works to provide the atmosphere that will enable the school to reach its goals.
Interested parties may pick up an Advisory Board application from the school office.

We become Catholics through baptism. As adult Catholics we have an obligation of making a com- mitment to our Territorial Parish (based on where we live) or (the Parish of our choice). We do this by registration.

BAPTISMS
As we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord, we are reminded of the guidelines set by the Diocese when baptizing a child:
✓ If the PARENTS are not members of this church, a letter from the parish in which they reside or are registered must be presented, giving permission for the child to be baptized at Santa Cruz. This must be done prior to registration for baptism.
✓ Copy of the State birth certificate for the child being baptized.
✓ Single godparents must be practicing Catholics living according to the norms of the Church.
✓ Godparents must have received all the Sacraments of initiation:
Baptism, 1st Communion and Confirmation.
✓ All married godparents must be married by the Catholic Church.
A copy of their Church marriage certificate must be presented.
✓ Parents and godparents must attend a Baptismal class prior to the Baptism. If class is taken in another parish, proof of atten- dance must be presented.
✓ All baptism documents must be received in the office before Baptism date and/or class can be set.
