will be heard from 3:00 - 7:00. If you cannot get to

in all parishes during those hours.

Dear Parishioners and Friends of Ascension,
Today we celebrate Palm Sunday. On Palm Sunday we celebrate Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem in order to accomplish his Paschal Mystery. Palm Sunday begins Holy Week.
The Season of the Easter Triduum begins on Thursday with the evening Mass of the Last Supper. The Season is three days in length. It reaches its high point at the Easter Vigil. On these days we celebrate the Last Supper, the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. These days are the culmination of the entire liturgical year.
This Thursday is Holy Thursday. On Holy Thursday, we celebrate the Last Supper of Jesus. It was at the Last Supper when Jesus instituted the sacraments of the Eucharist and Holy Orders. It was also at the Last Supper when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, in order to give them an example of unselfish service. On Holy Thursday only one Mass is permitted, the Evening Mass of the Last Supper. On Thursday night, we will have one Bilingual Mass at 7:30p.m. In keep with COVID restrictions, we will do an abbreviated version of the washing of the feet in order to maintain social distancing. Please note that those who will be part of that, have received BOTH of their vaccines. After Mass, the church will remain open for private adoration until 10:30. During the time of adoration, there will be NO group prayers/rosary. Everything will be done and prayed in silence. This Mass will be live streamed. On Good Friday, no Masses are celebrated. On Friday, we celebrate the Passion and Death of Jesus. The celebration consists in the readings (including the reading of the Passion), veneration of the cross, and Holy Communion. For the veneration of the cross, people will be invited to come forward and venerate the cross with a simple genuflexion or a bow of the head. No one will be permitted to kiss or touch the cross. We will have a celebration in English at 3:00 PM. At 5:00PM, we will have the same celebration in Spanish. There will be no outdoor procession this year. Both celebrations will be live streamed.
Again, on Holy Saturday, no Masses are celebrated except for the evening Easter Vigil. During the day, the church waits in vigil for the resurrection of Jesus. At this Vigil, we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead. The Easter Vigil is the proper time for adults to receive the Sacraments of Initiation, Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. This year, because of COVID, there will a few changes in the liturgy. Individual candles will not be distributed. This avoids people having to remove their masks in order for everyone to extinguish their candles at the same time. Out of an abundance of caution in wanting to ensure that our numbers are not too big, only the catechumens will be receiving the Easter Sacraments. The candidates will receive their sacraments on the Sunday after Easter. We will celebrate the Bilingual Easter Vigil at 8:00p.m. The Easter Vigil will be live streamed.
On Easter Sunday we will add an additional Mass in English. On Easter Sunday, Mass will be celebrated in English at 8:00 AM and at 11:00 AM. Mass will be celebrated in Spanish at 9:30 AM and 12:30 PM.
We are once again asking that each wage earner consider making a monetary Easter gift of $250 - $500 if you are able. We are grateful for whatever you are able to give.
Finally, I’d like to remind you that tomorrow, March 29th has been designated by the Archdiocese of New York as well as the Diocese of Brooklyn and Rockville Center as Reconciliation Monday. Tomorrow, confessions will be heard from 3:00 until 7:00 PM. I pray that this is a holy week for each and for all.

Queridos Feligreses y Amigos de Ascencion,
Hoy celebramos el Domingo de Ramos. El Domingo de Ramos celebramos la entrada triunfal de Cristo en Jerusalén para realizar su Misterio Pascual. El Domingo de Ramos comienza la Semana Santa.
El tiempo del Triduo Pascual comienza el jueves con la Misa vespertina de la Última Cena. La temporada tiene una duración de tres días. Alcanza su punto culminante en la Vigilia Pascual. En estos días celebramos la Última Cena, la pasión, muerte y resurrección de Jesús. Estos días son la culminación de todo el año litúrgico.
Este Jueves es Jueves Santo. El Jueves Santo celebramos la Última Cena de Jesús. Fue en la Última Cena cuando Jesús instituyó los sacramentos de la Eucaristía y el Orden Sagrado. También fue en la Última Cena cuando Jesús lavó los pies a sus discípulos, para darles un ejemplo de servicio desinteresado. El Jueves Santo solo se permite una Misa, la Misa vespertina de la Última Cena. El jueves por la noche tendremos una misa bilingüe a las 7:30 p.m. De acuerdo con las restricciones de COVID, haremos una versión abreviada del lavado de pies para mantener el distanciamiento social. Tenga en cuenta que aquellos que serán parte de eso, han recibido AMBAS vacunas. Después de la Misa, la iglesia permanecerá abierta para adoración privada hasta las 10:30. Durante el tiempo de adoración, NO habrá oraciones grupales / rosario. Todo se hará y se rezará en silencio. Esta Misa será transmitida en vivo.
El Viernes Santo no se celebran misas. El viernes celebramos la Pasión y Muerte de Jesús. La celebración consiste en las lecturas (incluida la lectura de la Pasión), la veneración de la cruz y la Sagrada Comunión. En esta Vigilia, celebramos la Resurrección de Jesús de entre los muertos. La Vigilia Pascual es el momento adecuado para que los adultos reciban los Sacramentos de Iniciación, Bautismo, Eucaristía y Confirmación. Este año, debido a COVID, habrá algunos cambios en la liturgia. No se distribuirán velas individuales. Esto evita que las personas tengan que quitarse las máscaras para que todos puedan apagar sus velas al mismo tiempo. Por mucha precaución al querer asegurarnos de que nuestro número no sea demasiado grande, solo los catecúmenos recibirán los sacramentos de Pascua. Los candidatos recibirán sus sacramentos el domingo después de Pascua. Celebraremos la Vigilia Pascual Bilingüe a las 8:00 p.m. La Vigilia Pascual se transmitirá en vivo.
El Domingo de Pascua agregaremos una Misa adicional en inglés. El domingo de Pascua, la misa se celebrará en inglés a las 8:00 AM. Y a las 11:00 AM. La misa se celebrará en español a las 9:30 AM y 12:30 PM.
Una vez más, estamos pidiendo que cada asalariado
considere hacer una donación monetaria de Pascua de $ 250 - $ 500 si puede. Estamos agradecidos por todo lo que pueda dar.
