From the Desk of Father José…..
Today we celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord. This wonderful celebration reminds us to be aware of the need to bring our Lord Jesus to all those we meet. As we begin this new year, 2021, may we make a commitment to bring the mercy of God to all those we meet. So often in our lives, we may miss the opportunity to give the best of ourselves because we may not realize the awesomeness of God’s creation and gifts in our lives. If I have learned something in the past couple of weeks, it is the fact that very small things matter a great deal. The three kings (wise men) brought with them the best they had for Baby Jesus. I have been in awe about the best gifts of our community and especially our volunteers in the midst of Covid Church reality. Our volunteers have brought the best of their gifts for the good of the parish community and the Sacramental life of our Church. Even the fact that when we make de-cisions as a team and are looking at the bigger picture of our pastoral presence, I often hear the words: "This is the best we can do at this time, and let us simply trust.” These words are a prayer often said by them and by me as your pas-tor. We are simply bringing our best at this time in our pastoral presence. We are blest to have so many gifts brought forth and I want to take the time to say thank you to all our volunteers. May the Lord continue to accept your offerings through the gifts, talents and treasures you bring alive in our community at this time.
I also wanted to take a moment to thank all our parish staff. Our parish and school staff and service center is one parish, united in mission and understanding, to bring the presence of God to all that we meet. How blest we are that we can teach the little ones to care for the needs of others, especially the poor, and they get to witness that teaching in the class-room and in the Gospel proclamation in our Church. But overall, how blest we are that they get to witness how we prac-tice our faith by the feeding of the needs of the poor and the homeless across the street. May the Lord continue to give us the gift of wisdom to appreciate the many blessings we have received and will continue to receive. Thank you to all who minister and call this a place of employment. You are the face of God in our midst to all those who call St. Charles home. Let us trust in His providence and share that providence with others. May this 2021 be a blest year for all of us. And like I have said before, and will continue to pray and believe, “Be at Peace; God will provide.”
Gratefully, Fr.

Toy Giveaway
Throughout December we provided bags of toys to our families as they came in for their regular
December visit, thanks to those who donated toys to the drive. Many thanks are due to Cybal Hall
and her team of service center volunteers for organizing the toy giveaway under these unusual
circumstances. We hope next year we will have our toy giveaway on a Saturday in mid-December as
we have traditionally done, and when we can do that again, we’ll invite our parishioners to volunteer
for our elf squad and join us the night before the giveaway to bag all those toys in the school cafeteria.
