Be Missionaries of Mercy
Since I did not choose a heart with one of the Works of Mercy on Sunday, I picked one up on Monday. I picked up just by chance, the one that said "Feed the Hungry." I was not sure how I would do this but resolved that I would try. On Tuesday, something happened that almost never happens: a man stopped me and asked for some food. I told him that meals were offered at St. Vincent de Paul but he said that he was too late. So I told him to wait a little and I would get something together. Normally, people just want money but I don't give money out because that usually leads to them to buy something harmful. He said that he would wait so I went and found some of Fr. Neal's tamales and some fruit and an energy drink and gave them all to him. He had waited patiently for me and not until the next day did I realize that the Lord had arranged for me to do the commitment I had made by picking up that heart. The Lord had let me be a missionary of mercy to this man. So I filled out the heart and put it before the Sacred Heart.
Later that day, I was talking to a man who had picked up a heart that said "Visit the Sick”. He told me that he did not know any sick people except for the two sick people in his house that he had to take care. I almost shouted at him-- "Everyday, all day, you live that Work of Mercy! Your whole life is visiting the sick!" What a beautiful Missionary of Mercy he is!

Ser Misioneros de la Misericordia
Ya que no tomé un corazón con una de las Obras de la Misericordia el domingo, lo hice el lunes. Escogí al azar uno que dice "Dar de comer al hambriento." No estaba seguro de cómo iba a hacer esto, pero decidí que iba a intentar. El martes, sucedió algo que casi nunca sucede: un hombre me detuvo y me pidió comida. Le dije que las comidas se ofrecen en San Vicente de Paul, pero dijo que era demasiado tarde. Así que le dije que me esperara un poco mientras le preparaba algo. Normalmente, la gente sólo quiere dinero, pero no doy dinero, ya que por lo general compran algo dañino. Dijo que iba a esperar, así que fui y encontré algunos tamales de P. Pepe, algo de fruta y una bebida energética y si lo di todo. Él me había esperado pacientemente y no fue hasta el día siguiente que me di cuenta de que el Señor había hecho arreglos para que yo hiciera mi compromiso al tomar ese corazón. El Señor quiso que yo fuera un misionero de la misericordia para este hombre. Así que escribí lo que hice en el corazón y lo puse ante el Sagrado Corazón.
Más tarde ese mismo día, yo estaba hablando con un hombre que había recogido un corazón que dice "visitar a los enfermos”. Me dijo que él no sabía de personas enfermas a excepción de las dos personas enfermas en su casa a quienes cuidaba. Casi le grité a él-- "¡Todos los días, todo el día, vives esa Obra de Misericordia! ¡Su vida entera está visitando a los enfermos! "¡Qué hermoso Misionero de la Misericordia es!
