Notes to Parents

H

elping Your Child Learn to Read!

When parents help, their children learn to read, they help open the door to a new world. As a parent, you can begin an endless learning chain: You read to your children, they develop a love of stories and poems; they want to read on their own, they practice reading, and finally, they read for their own information for pleasure. They become readers and their world is forever expanded and enriched.

It is important to find books on topics intended to help you make the most of your child’s natural curiosity. Helping your child become a reader is an adventure you will not want to miss. The benefits to your child are immeasurable and in the process, you will find the world becoming richer as well.

A

yude a Su Niño a Aprender a Leer

unctuality Is Key to Success

Children who arrive after 7:45 a.m. are late for class. Please help your child develop good

punctuality habits by bringing him/her to class on time every day. Children who arrive late are missing valuable education time as well as disrupting the class that is already in session.

Please do your part and monitor your child’s preparation for school each day so that arrival at school is prompt and timely. Your child deserves to have a strong start to every school day. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.

Help your child learn to read! The most commonly used words in English follow few

spelling or pronunciation rules and cause children great difficulty when they are

beginning to read. If you help your child master these words and know them "by sight”,

then s/he will be able to focus on the more important content words. Reading will be

more interesting and more enjoyable as a result! Please help your child practice his/her

sight word list on a daily basis. It will make a dramatic difference as s/he begins to read.
