Our Mission: The fundamental mission of the Catholic Church is to evangelize – to proclaim and further God’s kingdom. In this tradition, the Parochial Religious Education Program (PREP) provides instruction to the children of the Parish of the Holy Cross. PREP aims to enrich the faith life of our young people and their families through catechism, the sacraments, celebration of the Mass, and parish spiritual intergenerational events.

2021 The Year of

Saint Joseph

Pope Francis has chosen a

perfect saint for the New

Year – a saint that was the

best model of a father and

caregiver there ever was:

Joseph. The Pope

encourages us to follow

“his example” and

“strengthen their life of

faith daily in complete fulfillment of God’s will.” In short, Pope

Francis is challenging us to be like Joseph.

There isn’t a lot about Joseph in the Bible. He was Mary’s

husband. He was Jesus’s foster father. He was a carpenter. Most

of all, he was a man of faith. Joseph is often referred to as “just a

man,” but what a man! He was devoted, humble, caring, loving,

and helpful. Today many people pray for his intercessions. He is

the patron saint of fathers, family, carpenters, doubt, and more.

How can you be like Joseph? How can you listen to God and

follow His will? How can you be helpful to others? How can you

be caring and kind?

Happy New Year! By now I’m sure all of us are ready for something good to happen. 2020 was a year different from any other in our lives. Prayers continue for good health for you and your family.

Something good comes from us! We make our decisions every day, and one of those decisions is to be grumpy or filled with joy. We are human so there will be days when it’s not easy to find something happy, but can’t focus on the gloom and doom all the time. We need to remember that God loves us! He wants us to be happy! He wants us to spread the love and joy around. “Lord, fill me with love, fill me with joy, fill me with peace, fill me with patience, fill me with kindness, fill me with faithfulness, fill me with gentleness, fill me with self-control. Fill me with the Fruits of your Spirit so I can be a light to others. Amen.”

Let your light shine!

Stay safe.

Think of the gifts you have. How can you share them? How can you follow Joseph’s example? How can you be more like Jesus? How can you be a light to the world?

TAKE THE CHALLENGE Give Thanks –

 For one week, spend 3-5 minutes at the end of the day reflection on and making a list of everything you are grateful for that day.

 Identify 5 people you are thankful for, and add them to your list if they aren’t already on it. Be intentional in thanking them somehow.

 At the end of the week, look at your list. Spend some time in prayer for what and who are on the list.

Share Your Faith –

 By INVITATION: Invite a friend or family member to join you in a faith-based activity (it could be watching the live stream of Mass).

 By EXAMPLE: Make choices that reflect your faith, especially in how you treat others. You won’t be perfect but you can strive to be like Jesus.

 By WITNESS: Talk about your faith, have a conversation with someone about your feelings about God, share something from the Bible.

Piensa en los regalos que tienes. ¿Cómo puedes compartirlos? ¿Cómo pueden seguir el ejemplo de José? ¿Cómo puedes ser más como Jesús? ¿Cómo puedes ser una luz para el mundo?

ASUMIR EL RETO

Dar gracias –

• Durante una semana, dedique 3-5 minutos al final del día a reflexionar y hacer una lista de todo lo que está agradecido por ese día.

• Identifique a 5 personas por las que está agradecido y agréguelas a su lista si aún no están en ella. Sé intencional al agradecerles de alguna manera.

• Al final de la semana, mire su lista. Pase algún tiempo en oración por qué y quiénes están en la lista.

Comparte tu fe –

• Por INVITACION: Invita a un amigo o familiar a unirse a ti en una actividad basada en la fe (podría ser ver la transmisión en vivo de la Misa).

• Por EJEMPLO: Toma decisiones que reflejen tu fe, especialmente en la forma en que tratas a los demás. No serás perfecto, pero puedes esforzarte por ser como Jesús.

• Por WITNESS: Hable acerca de su fe, tenga una conversación con alguien acerca de sus sentimientos acerca de Dios, comparta algo de la Biblia.

2021 El Año de San José

El Papa Francisco ha

elegido un santo perfecto

para el Año Nuevo, un santo

que fue el mejor modelo de

padre y cuidador que ha

existió: José. El Papa nos

anima a seguir "su ejemplo"

y a "fortalecer su vida de fe diariamente en el cumplimiento

completo de la voluntad de Dios". En resumen, el Papa Francisco

nos está desafiando a ser como José.

No hay mucho sobre José en la Biblia. Era el marido de Mary.

Era el padre adoptivo de Jesús. Era carpintero. Sobre todo, era

un hombre de fe. A José se le conoce a menudo como "sólo un

hombre", ¡pero qué hombre! Era devoto, humilde, cariñoso,

cariñoso y servicial. Hoy en día muchas personas oran por sus

intercesiones. Es el santo patrón de los padres, la familia, los

carpinteros, la duda y más.

¿Cómo puedes ser como José? ¿Cómo puedes escuchar a Dios y

seguir Su voluntad? ¿Cómo puedes ser útil para los demás?

¿Cómo puedes ser cariñoso y amable?

¡Feliz Año Nuevo! A estas alturas estoy seguro de que todos estamos listos para que algo bueno suceda. 2020 fue un año diferente de cualquier otro en nuestras vidas. Continúan las oraciones por una buena salud para usted y su familia. ¡Algo bueno viene de nosotros! Tomamos nuestras decisiones todos los días, y una de esas decisiones es estar gruñón o lleno de gozo. Somos humanos, así que habrá días en que no es fácil encontrar algo feliz, pero no podemos centrarse en la penumbra y la perdición todo el tiempo. ¡Necesitamos recordar que Dios nos ama! ¡Quiere que seamos felices! Quiere que difundámos el amor y la alegría.

"Señor, lléname de amor, lléname de alegría, lléname de paz, lléname de paciencia, lléname de bondad, lléname de fidelidad, lléname de dulzura, lléname de autocontrol. Lléname con los frutos de tu Espíritu para que pueda ser una luz para los demás. Amén."

PREP tiene como objetivo enriquecer la vida de fe de nuestros jóvenes y sus familias a través del catecismo, los sacramentos, la celebración de la Misa y los acontecimientos intergeneracionales espirituales parroquiales.
