2016 PETER'S PENCE COLLECTION

Next week, our Archdiocese will take up the Peter’s Pence Collection, which provides Pope Francis with the funds he needs to carry out his charitable works around the world. The proceeds benefit our brothers and sisters on the margins of society, including victims of war, op-pression, and disasters. Join our Holy Father as a witness of charity to those who are suffering.

Alzheimer’s is a type of dementia that causes problems with mem-ory, thinking and behavior. The number of Americans living with Alzheimer’s is growing fast (more than 5 million in 2016). The risk factors for vascular disease (mainly diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol) can also be risk factors for developing Alz-heimer’s. There is a greater number of Latinos than non-Hispanic whites in the United States that suffer from Alzheimer’s. Alz-heimer’s can be very costly, financially and emotionally, for family caregivers so it’s important to know where to go for support. There is no cure, but there are treatments for the symptoms and research continues. For more information on resources and support, visit http://www.alz.org/manh/.

El Alzheimer es una enfermedad cerebral que causa problemas con la memoria, la forma de pensar y la manera de comportarse.
