your most precious and valuable possessions with us at Highline. It is sure to be a remarkable year of thinking, learning, caring and fun!
Below are just a few reminders to ensure the continued safety of your child(ren) and all the children who attend Highline. The staff and I greatly appreciate your continued support and cooperation.
Morning Supervision
Please do not drop your child off at school before 7:45 AM., unless they are eating breakfast. Teachers are not available to provide supervision until then, and having students on the playground before 7:45 is unsafe.
Staff will question all students seen on the playground without parents and be reminded of the approved time.
If it is observed to be a repeat occurrence, parents will be contacted by the child’s teacher and/or the principal. We understand that as working parents, you have an obligation to get to work on time; however, dropping students off at an unsupervised time is prohibited. We know this can create a hardship for some families and that is why we offer a Before and After school program (HICEP) that keeps all students safe and engaged in fun activities. Attendance: The change in the school start time has been an adjustment for teachers, students and families alike. However, I cannot stress enough how important it is for you, as parents to get your child to school on time and before the first bell at 7:55. Doing so, helps your child(ren) start his/her day in a clam and well prepared manner alongside their classmates. In compliance with Compulsory Attendance Law, attendance at Highline is monitored closely, including excessive tardiness, absences and early dismissals and may be subject to legal action.
Breakfast for all HLN Students
Just like last year, all HLN students are eligible for free breakfast. Breakfast is served between 7:15 and 8:15. In order to ensure your child has plenty of time to eat and is not late for class, please make sure they are in the cafeteria by 7:45 at the latest. All students are expected to eat breakfast before participating in morning recess. For ease of serving and consumption, all breakfast meals picked up after 7:55 will be served in a brown bag which students are permitted to take to class. I hope you will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and ensure your child is ready for a full day of learning by encouraging him/her to have a belly full of breakfast brain food.
This school year is going to be an amazing year. Supervisión en la Mañana

Asistencia

Telephone Hotlines. 720-554-4701 Weather-related schedule decisions will be made by
geographic area. Look for your school and call the telephone hotline number listed for that area.
Information for each hotline will be updated by 5:00 a.m. daily.
School Closure When early morning weather and road conditions or other emergency situations are deemed hazardous, the district will announce closure of schools through the media previously listed above. All activities scheduled in district facilities are canceled. In-district sports events and team practices are postponed. If a league event is scheduled in the district, the host district determines whether it is postponed.
Delayed Start When early morning conditions are not deemed serious enough to close school, but are likely to cause delays, school bus pickup times and school starting times may be delayed. This information will be available on the district web site (www.ccsd.k12.co.us), hotlines and local TV and radio stations as soon as practicable. Delayed start schedules will be as follows:
High Schools: Bus pickup and school start times will be delayed 30 minutes, with the exception of the 9:00 a.m. freshman/ sophomore bus run at Smoky Hill High School, which will be delayed one hour (1 hour).
All Middle Schools: Delayed one hour (1 hour).
ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS: DELAYED ONE HOUR (1 HOUR).
HIGHLINE START TIME WOULD BE 9:00 A.M. STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED AT REGULAR TIME.
If you have lived in Colorado for very long, you will know that the weather can change hourly.
Students will need to dress warmly for before school, recess and after school. Students will be outside before school and for recess time unless it is 20 degrees or below and/or it is raining or very wet snow. Be prepared for Colorado weather and dress appropriately!
