Una nota del Párroco
Dear friends,
Today we have a very special guest at Sacred Heart. Salinas Chief Louis Fetherolf
will speak at all weekend Masses (English and Spanish) about ways we can work with
the police to save our local young people from having their lives destroyed by gangs.
Sometimes people are reluctant to pass on information because of fear of reprisal.
Catholics believe in the virtue of good citizenship. We hold ourselves responsible to
deal with problems affecting the whole community, and won't allow ourselves to
sim-ply hide and let someone else do all the lifting. We'll learn how to pass information
along anonymously.
Family and friends may have the feeling that informing on a loved one is being
dis-loyal to them. As far as whether sharing information with the police shows
disloy-alty ... does anyone here seriously think gangs love our children? Gangs use our kids
to sell drugs and do their dirty work, and the second the kids get out of line ... well, it's
no more kids.
Kids need to be protected from gangs ... especially if they are already members. And
we all have a part.
Let's listen to our police chief with a sympathetic ear ... and show up in the Parish Hall
this Thursday evening at 7PM for more questions and discussion with the Chief.
Peace and All Good!
Queridos amigos:

On September 27th, a 7 AM Mass in honor of St. Vincent de Paul was held at Sacred
Heart Church. Over 40 current students and alumni prepared and served a hot breakfast
to 70 less fortunate in our community. Each received a sack lunch to take with them, as
well as a goodie bag of toiletries donated by the St. Vincent de Paul organization.
St. Vincent de Paul was a Roman Catholic priest who dedicated his life to the poor. St.
Vincent de Paul is the patron of charitable societies.
MY BODY, MY TEMPLE ….. MI CUERPO, MI TEMPLO
“Glorify God in your body”
1 Corinthians 6:20
Our body is God’s generous gift to us. To show our
appreciation for His gift and to bring Him honor, we
must strive to keep our body healthy and strong. One
way of doing so is to take advantage of any
opportu-nity available for exercising our body. The Franklin
Institute suggests that we incorporate the following
simple steps into our daily routine:
•
Taking the stairs instead of an elevator or
esca-lator.
•
Parking the car at the far end of the parking lot;
the extra short walk is beneficial to our body.
•
Getting off a stop before your destination and
walking the rest of the way if you ride the bus.
•
Spending a few minutes of our lunch break
taking a stroll around the area.
•
Thinking of housework as a chance to
exer-cise: vacuuming briskly can be a real workout.
•
Mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, and raking
leaves provide an opportunity to exercise.
•
Taking a brisk walk with your dog is good
ex-ercise for both of you.
•
Scheduling an after-dinner walk with family
members can be good quality time spent with
those we love.
God Bless & Stay Healthy!
“Glorificad a Dios en vuestro cuerpo”
1 Corintios 6:20
mantener nuestro cuerpo fuerte y saludable.
cami-nata extra beneficia a nuestro cuerpo.
•
