No dejo de asombrarme de los Evangelios y de cómo cada vez que los leo descubro algo nuevo. Pareciera que el Espíritu Santo va quitando lentamente el velo y va dejándome ver las partes que son más apropiadas de acuerdo con la situación que estoy viviendo en mi vida.
Las palabras del Evangelio de hoy realmente me impactaron en este momento de mi vida. Es como si Jesús me estuviera diciendo: "José, mi querido José, estás preocupado y distraído por muchas cosas; sólo hay necesidad de una cosa. María ha elegido la mejor parte, que no le será arrebatada".
¿Cuántas veces nos involucramos en muchas cosas buenas que nos perdemos las cosas mejores? ¿Cuántas veces creemos que el mundo se va a detener si nosotros no estamos a cargo de el? En nuestro trabajo, en casa, y desde luego, también en la Iglesia. A veces creemos que el ministerio o el trabajo que hacemos en la Iglesia se va
a terminar si no somos nosotros los que estamos dirigiendo. ¡A veces hasta nos preguntamos ¿cómo ha sobrevivido la Iglesia por tanto tiempo sin nosotros?!
Nos involucramos en tantas cosas buenas que nos perdemos las mejores.
Muchas veces, como Marta, trabajamos duro para que algo salga bien, y trabajamos tanto que al final, nos perdimos de todo lo que paso por estar
“atendiendo” los detalles.
Yo creo que pasamos la vida preocupándonos y trabajando tanto que nos perdemos la mejor parte. Nos volvemos adictos al trabajo para proveer más y mejores cosas para nuestros hijos, pero nos perdemos sus mejores años por no estar con ellos más tiempo. No involucramos en tantas cosas que ya no tenemos tiempo para nuestra esposa o esposo y nos perdemos las oportunidades de pasar tiempo juntos.

Taking on another person’s history, taking the time to get to know them without labeling them, putting them on our shoulders when they are tired or wounded like the good Samaritan: this is known as fraternity.

@Pontifex_es I am always amazed by the Gospels and
how every time I read them I discover something new. It seems as if the Holy Spirit is slowly unveiling them and only allowing me to see the portions that are most appropriate for the moment in time that I am living.
The words in today’s Gospel truly hit home for me at this time of my life. It is like Jesus is saying “José, my dear José, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing.
Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.”
How many times we are so involved in many good things that we miss the best things? How many times we think that the world will collapse if we are not in charge? And this is true not only in our workplaces or at home, but at Church as well. Sometimes we think that a particular ministry is going to fail or disappear if we are not the “leader” of
it. Sometimes we wonder how the Church managed to survive without us?!
We get involved in so many good things that we miss the best things.
Many times, we are like Martha, working very hard to make sure some event goes well. We work so hard on it that at the end we missed the main event.
I think we go through life worrying and working too much on good things that we miss the best things. We become workaholics so we can provide more things to our children, but in the process, we miss their “growing up”
experiences. We get involved in so many activities that we no longer have time for our wife or husband, and we miss the opportunities to spend some quality time together.

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Last month we welcomed the beginning of the three year National Eucharistic Revival with the celebration of the Solemnity of the Precious Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. As June was dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, this month of July is dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus.
As we continue to acknowledge the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist, I would like to congratulate all the children throughout our diocese who have recently received Jesus - the Eucharist - for the first time. As your Bishop, I am proud of you and joyful to see your love of Jesus in Holy Communion. I thank your parents, and those in the parishes, who have helped you to prepare for your First Holy Communion. With the love and support of your parents, you will be able to continue to attend Mass on Sunday in order to listen to the Gospel of Jesus and to receive his Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in Holy Communion.
During the month of July, as a sign of our love and devotion to Jesus, we can
do what little St. Francisco Marto of Fátima did. Francisco would spend time visiting, as he referred to as: “the Hidden Jesus” present in the Eucharist within the tabernacle of his parish church. That’s a great idea! You, too, can visit the Blessed Sacrament in your parish church! As a family, plan to spend some time to visit the hidden Jesus during this month of July.
Together, it is a perfect way to thank Jesus for the gift of his Most Precious Blood that you and I receive in the Eucharist.
All of us need Jesus in order to continue to grow strong in our faith.
So, let us continue to come to church to participate in the celebration of the Mass and to receive Jesus in Holy Communion.
Remember: He is waiting for you and me! Come, let us adore the Hidden Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
Children, once again, congratulations on receiving your First Holy Communion.

El mes pasado dimos la bienvenida al comienzo de los tres años del Avivamiento Eucarístico Nacional con la celebración de la Solemnidad del Precioso Cuerpo y Sangre de Jesucristo.
Así como junio fue dedicado al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, este mes de julio está dedicado a la Preciosa Sangre de Jesús.
Mientras continuamos reconociendo la verdadera presencia de Cristo en la Eucaristía, me gustaría felicitar a todos los niños de nuestra diócesis que recientemente han recibido a Jesús -la Eucaristía - por primera vez. Como su Obispo, estoy orgulloso de ustedes y me alegro ver su amor a Jesús en la Sagrada Comunión. Agradezco a tus padres, y a los de las parroquias, que te han ayudado a prepararte para tu Primera Comunión. Con el amor y el apoyo de tus padres, podrás seguir asistiendo a misa el domingo para escuchar el Evangelio de Jesús y recibir su Cuerpo, Sangre, Alma y Divinidad en la Sagrada Comunión.
Durante el mes de julio, como signo de nuestro amor y devoción a Jesús, podemos hacer lo que hizo el pequeño San Francisco Marto de Fátima.

¡Esa es una gran idea! ¡Tú también puedes visitar el Santísimo Sacramento en tu iglesia parroquial! Como familia, planeen pasar algún tiempo para visitar al Jesús Oculto durante este mes de julio. Juntos, es una manera perfecta de agradecer a Jesús por el don de su Preciosísima Sangre que tú y yo recibimos en la Eucaristía.
Todos nosotros necesitamos a Jesús para seguir creciendo fuertes en nuestra fe. Así que, sigamos yendo a la iglesia para participar en la celebración de la Misa y recibir a Jesús en la Sagrada Comunión.

Fr. Ignacio Larrañaga used to say, “we work so hard on God’s things that we forget about God.”
What are the good things that are depriving me of better things?
Let us not wait until it is too late in our life to start looking for the best moments. Life is too short, and we only live once. Let us enjoy the moment without worrying too much about superfluous details. Let God take care of you.
Hopefully the next time Jesus comes to visit us in our home, we will be like Mary and chose the best part.

Chicken Dinner with St.
Vincent de Paul
St. Vincent de Paul Ministry will be having its Annual Chicken Dinner Fundraiser.
The Chicken Dinner will be August 5, 2022.
This fundraiser helps support the back to school event and prepare many children in our community that are heading back to school.
Tickets will be sold July 23-24 and July 30-31 after each Mass.

National Night Out builds better relationship with your neighbors and creates bridges with local law enforcement.
Tuesday, August 2nd from 6:00PM-9:00PM residents in neighborhoods across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors. Many neighborhoods host a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, ice cream socials, potlucks and games. Registration Packet is due on Wednesday, July 20th. For more information:

The Stockton District Italian Catholic Federation will hold their 58th Annual Bishop' Seminary Burse Mass and Luncheon.
It will take place Sunday July 31, 2022 hosted by St. Stanislaus Branch #48 in support of our seminarians.
Bishop Myron J. Cotta will say the 10:00AM Mass and a Tri Tip luncheon, with all the trimmings, will follow in the Community Center at 12:00 Noon.
