his is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad. Alleluia! Easter is always, but espe- cially in this Jubilee Year of Mercy, the victory of God’s gentle but invincible mercy raising up Jesus,

“faithful witness, the first-born of the dead” (Revelation 1:5), “first-born among many brothers [and sis-

ters]” (Romans 8:29), conquering death in all its forms, in all of us in the human family. In Luke’s Vigil Gospel, heavenly messengers send the women forth: “Remember what [Jesus] said to you” (Luke 24:6). In John’s Gospel, the empty tomb likewise “sends forth” Mary Magdalene, Peter, and the Beloved Disciple, who believe though they do not fully understand. Finally, Luke’s evening

“Emmaus” Gospel sends us forth, as “missionaries of mercy,” assuring us that we will encounter the Risen Lord, today and every day, in “the stranger” we meet along life’s journey, in “the Word that makes our hearts burn within us,” and “in the breaking of bread” (see Luke 24:32, 35).

ste es el día en que actuó el Señor, sea nuestra alegría y nuestro gozo. ¡Aleluya! En este Año Jubilar de la Misericordia la Pascua continua siendo la victoria de Dios misericordioso que levanta a Jesús “el testigo fiel, el primogénito de los muertos y el soberano de los reyes de la tierra” (Apocalipsis 1:5), “el primogénito entre muchos hermanos” (Romanos 8:29), venciendo a la muerte en todas sus formas, en todos nos nosotros en la familia humana. En el Evangelio de la Vi- gilia, este año el de Lucas, mensajeros celestiales envia- ron a las mujeres a anunciar (24:6). En el Evangelio de Juan, la tumba vacía igualmente “envía” a María Magda- lena, Pedro y el Discípulo Amado, quienes creían aun- que no entendían plenamente. Por último, en la tarde de este domingo de Pascua, el Evangelio de Lucas que cuenta la historia de Emaús, nos envía como “misioneros de misericordia”, asegurándonos que encontraremos al Señor Resucitado, hoy y cada día en “la persona desco- nocida” que encontramos en nuestro camino de la vida, en la “Palabra que hace que arda nuestros corazones” y

“al partir el pan” (ver Lucas 24:32, 35).

appy Easter to each of you and your families. Our readings today mention witnessing or testifying many times. Peter calls the disciples witnesses, commissioned to testify that Jesus is the one appointed by God. The

prophets are said to witness God's forgiving love.

Mary is the first to witness the empty tomb.

We are also called to witness the Resurrection. We did not see Christ walk this earth, but we have experienced the effects of the Resurrection. We are able to see hope where others see despair. When we admit that we are powerless, and that our lives are hidden in Christ, living sincerity and truth lessen the power of malice and wickedness. Let us testify to that truth so that others may come to see and believe through you.

A Meditation on Lent

and our Restoration of our Church Building The Resurrection

“Alleluia. You are Risen from the dead. Come into my heart, Lord.

Come into my life.”

Over the last forty days we were all invited into the de- sert to reflect on our lives and determine where we need to be transformed. For some of us it might have been an easy forty days and for others it was quit difficult. Either way you spend time contemplating your life journey. I hope that the medita- tions in the bulletin and witnessing the transformation on our beloved church building assisted in during this time.

Today we celebrate the resurrection of our savior, Jesus.

Does that mean that your transformation journey is over?

NO! It means that we now enter into the next phase of trans- formation, moving and looking forward. Sometimes in mov- ing forward we may take steps back and that is okay, just don’t stop moving forward. Continue to use the prayer and service practices that you engaged in during Lent, they will help you move forward. Most importantly keep looking to God.

Here is prayer that you can focus on during the next phase. It reminds us to be patient with ourselves and the transformation process.

Patient Trust

Above all, trust in the slow work of God.

We are quite naturally impatient in everything to reach the end without delay.

We should like to skip the intermediate stages.

We are impatient of being on the way to something unknown, something new.

And yet it is the law of all progress that it is made by passing through

some stages of instability—

and that it may take a very long time.

And so I think it is with you;

your ideas mature gradually—let them grow, let them shape themselves, without undue haste.

Don’t try to force them on, as though you could be today what time

(that is to say, grace and circumstances acting on your own good will)

will make of you tomorrow.

Only God could say what this new spirit

gradually forming within you will be.

Give Our Lord the benefit of believing that his hand is leading you,

and accept the anxiety of feeling yourself in suspense and incomplete.

Una meditación sobre la Cuaresma y nuestra restauración del edificio de la iglesia

La Resurrección

"Aleluya. Estás resucitado de entre los muertos.

Entra en mi corazón, Señor. Entrar en mi vida."

Durante los últimos cuarenta días estábamos todos invita- dos al desierto para reflexionar sobre nuestras vidas y determinar

dónde tenemos que ser transformado. Para algunos de nosotros que podría haber sido unos cuarenta días fáciles y para otros fue difícil dejar de fumar . De cualquier forma estás tomando el tiem- po contemplando el viaje de tu vida. Espero que las meditaciones en el boletín y testigos de la transformación de nuestro edificio de

la iglesia querida hayan ayudado durante este tiempo.

Hoy celebramos la resurrección de nuestro Salvador, Jesús.

¿Eso quiere decir que tu viaje de transformación ha terminado?

¡NO! Esto significa que ahora entramos en la siguiente fase de transformación, desplazamiento y mirando hacia adelante. A ve- ces para avanzar podemos tomar pasos hacia atrás y que está bien, simplemente no dejar de avanzar. Siga usando las prácticas de oración y de servicios que se ocupan durante la Cuaresma, que te ayudará a seguir adelante. Lo más importante es seguir buscan-

do a Dios.

Aquí está la oración que puedes usar durante la siguiente fase. Nos recuerda que debemos ser pacientes con nosotros mis-

mos y el proceso de transformación.

La confianza del paciente

Por encima de todo, confiar en la lenta obra de Dios.

Somos naturalmente impacientes en todo y Queremos llegar al final sin demora.

Nos gustaría saltar las etapas intermedias.

Somos impacientes de estar en el camino hacia algo desconocido, algo nuevo.

Y, sin embargo, es la ley de todo progreso que está hecho al pasar a través algunas etapas de inestabilidad- y que puede tomar un tiempo muy largo.

Y también creo que está contigo;

tus ideas maduran gradualmente, y así sé libre con tus ideas, deja que den forma de sí mismas, sin demasiada prisa.

No trates de forzarlas , Como si sería hoy lo que el tiempo (Es decir, la gracia y las circunstancias que actúan en tu propia buena voluntad)

hará de ti mañana.

Sólo Dios podría decir lo que este nuevo espíritu será que se está formando dentro de ti.

Nuestro Señor da el beneficio de creer que su mano te está guiando,

acepta la ansiedad de sentirte a ti mismo en suspenso e incompleto.
