September: Month of Catechists

Remember what Benedict XVI said: “The Church does not grow by proselytizing; she grows by attracting others.” And what attracts is our witness. Being a catechist means witnessing to the faith, being consistent in our personal life. This is not easy! We help, we lead others to Jesus with our words and our lives, with our witness. I like to recall what Saint Francis of Assisi used to say to his friars: “Preach the Gospel at all times; if necessary, use words”. Words come… but witness comes first: people should see the Gospel, read the Gospel, in our lives. To “be” a catechist requires love, an ever stronger love for Christ, a love for his holy people. And this love can’t be bought in stores, even in Rome. This love comes from Christ! It is Christ’s gift! And if it comes from Christ, it also starts with Christ, and we too need to start anew with Christ, from the love he gives us. What does this starting anew from Christ mean for a catechist? For you, but also for me, since I am a catechist too? What does it mean?

First of all, to start anew from Christ means being close to him…

The second element is this: starting anew with Christ means imitating him by leaving ourselves behind and going out to encounter others…

The third element is along these lines: starting anew with Christ means not being afraid to go with him to the outskirts.

True reconciliation is emotional, dra-matic, and cleansing. When two people meet heart to heart and work through old hurts, misunderstandings, and careless words, cleansing tears often flow and the encounter ends with an embrace that fills both with the warmth of a love too strong to fade.

The readings this weekend assure us of this healthy release that comes with rec-onciliation. They give us the courage to reach out to someone with whom we need to reconcile ourselves, and give us the courage to ask for forgiveness from God, too.

In the reading from Exodus, we see how God refuses again and again to give up on the Israelites. Even though they grow impatient with God and turn to false idols, God still calls them back. Luke's Gospel assures us that God rejoices when we turn away from sin. Paul's let-ter to Timothy encourages us, like Paul, to look back on our lives and recognize where God's patient mercy has been shown to us.

Septiembre: Mes de Catequistas

Recuerda lo que dijo Benedicto XVI: "La Iglesia no crece por proselitismo; ella crece mediante la atracción de otros. "Y lo que atrae es nuestro testigo. Ser catequista significa dar testimonio de la fe, constantes en nuestra vida personal. ¡Esto no es fácil! Ayudamos, que llevamos a otros a Jesús con nuestras palabras y nuestras vidas, con nuestro testimonio. Me gusta recordar lo que San Francisco de Asís solía decir a sus hermanos: "Predica la

Evangelio en todo momento; si es necesario, utilizar las palabras ". Las palabras salen ... pero testigos es lo primero: la gente debe ver el Evangelio, leer el Evangelio, en nuestras vidas. Para "ser" catequista requiere amor, un amor cada vez más fuerte para Cristo, un amor por su pueblo santo. Y este amor no se puede comprar en las tiendas, incluso en Roma. Este amor viene de Cristo! Es el don de Cristo! Y si viene de Cristo, sino que también comienza con Cristo, y nosotros también necesitan comenzar de nuevo con Cristo, del amor que nos da. ¿Qué significa esta partida recomenzar desde Cristo para un catequista? Para usted, sino también para mí, ya que soy una catequista también? Qué significa eso?

En primer lugar, para empezar de nuevo desde Cristo significa estar cerca de él ... El segundo elemento es la siguiente: comenzando de nuevo con Cristo significa imitarlo por

dejando detrás de nosotros mismos e ir al encuentro de los demás ...

El tercer elemento es a lo largo de estas líneas: comenzando de nuevo con Cristo significa no tener miedo de ir con él a las afueras.

Los Guadalupanos los invitan a rezar el Rosario cada Miércoles a las 7 en la noche en la capilla.

RECONCILIACIÓN

La verdadera reconciliación es emocion-al, dramática y purificadora. Cuando dos personas se encuentran de corazón a corazón para reparar viejas heridas, malentendidos y palabras descuidadas, lágrimas purificadoras fluyen con frecuencia y el encuentro termina con un abrazo que llena a ambas con el calor de un amor demasiado fuerte para apagarse. Las lecturas esta semana nos aseguran que una saludable liberación acompaña la reconciliación. Ellas nos dan el valor de acercarnos a alguien con quien nece-sitemos reconciliarnos, y también nos dan valor para pedir perdón a Dios. En la lectura del Éxodo, vemos cómo Dios se niega una y otra vez a abandonar a los israelitas. Aunque ellos se impaci-entan con Dios y adoran falsos dioses, Dios todavía vuelve a llamarlos. El Evangelio de san Lucas nos asegura que Dios se regocija cuando nos apartamos del pecado. La carta de Pablo a Timoteo nos anima, como Pablo, a revisar nuestra vida y a reconocer las ocasiones en que Dios ha sido paciente y misericordioso con nosotros.

“Sống như giáo lý viên đòi phải có lòng yêu mến ngày càng nồng nhiệt hơn đối với Chúa Kitô, yêu mến Dân thánh của Người. Và tình yêu này nhất thiết phải khởi hành từ Chúa Kitô. Tái khởi hành từ Chúa Kitô như thế có nghĩa là gì đối với một giáo lý viên, đối với anh chị em, đối với tôi, vì tôi cũng là một giáo lý viên!

1. Trước tiên tái khởi hành từ Chúa Kitô có nghĩa là “sống thân mật với Chúa”. Chúa Giêsu nồng nhiệt khuyến khích các môn đệ của Ngài về điều này trong Bữa Tiệc Ly, khi Ngài bắt đầu sống sự dâng hiến cao cả nhất của tình yêu, hy tế Thập Giá. Chúa Giêsu dùng hình ảnh cây nho và các cành… Nếu chúng ta kết hiệp với Chúa, chúng ta có thể sinh hoa trái, và đây chính là cuộc sống thân mật với Chúa Kitô…

2. Yếu tố thứ hai: tái khởi hành từ Chúa Kitô có nghĩa là noi gương Chúa ra khỏi bản thân mình và đi gặp gỡ tha nhân. Đây là một kinh nghiệm đẹp, và hơi nghịch lý… Hễ bạn càng kết hiệp với Chúa Giêsu, thì Chúa càng trở nên trung tâm cuộc sống của bạn, và Chúa càng làm cho bạn ra khỏi chính mình, làm cho bạn không co cụm vào mình, nhưng cởi mở đối với người khác...

3. Và yếu tố thứ ba vẫn luôn ở trong đường hướng ấy: tái khởi hành từ Chúa Kitô có nghĩa là không sợ ra đi với Chúa ở bên lề xã hội. Ở đây tôi nghĩ đến chuyện ông Giona, một nhân vật thật là hay, nhất là trong thời đại chúng ta có những thay đổi và bất định. Giona là một người đạo đức, có đời sống yên hàn, ổn định, và điều này khiến ông có những khuôn mẫu rõ ràng và phán đoán mọi sự, mọi người theo những khuôn mẫu ấy một cách cứng nhắc. Và thế là ông trốn chạy. Ông xuống tàu để đi xa. Anh chị em hãy đọc lại sách Giona! Sách này ngắn nhưng là một dụ ngôn có ý nghĩa rất xúc tích, nhất là đối với chúng ta là những người ở trong Giáo Hội. Sách này dạy chúng ta điều gì? Sách dạy chúng ta đừng sợ ra khỏi những khuôn mẫu của mình để theo Chúa, vì Chúa luôn đi ra ngoài, Thiên Chúa không sợ những vùng ngoại biên.

Qua tự sắc Sedula Mater (Người Mẹ Ân Cần) đề ngày ngày 15 tháng Tám 2016, lễ Đức Mẹ Lên Trời, ĐTC Phanxicô đã chính thức thành lập “Bộ Giáo dân, Gia đình và Sự sống.” Bộ này sát nhập Hội đồng về Giáo dân, Hội đồng về Gia đình, và Hàn lâm viện Sự sống thành một.

Lời mở đầu tự sắc cho thấy việc chăm sóc gia đình vốn luôn là hành động của Giáo hội: “Từ bao thế kỷ nay, Giáo hội, như một người mẹ ân cần, đã luôn chăm sóc và tôn trọng các giáo dân, gia đình và sự sống, khi bày tỏ lòng yêu thương của Đấng Cứu Thế thương xót nhân loại.” Tiếp đến, Đức Thánh Cha cho biết lý do thành lập Bộ Giáo dân, Gia đình và Sự sống: “Chúng tôi nghĩ đến các giáo dân, gia đình, và sự sống, mà chúng tôi mong muốn giúp đỡ , vì họ đang tích cực làm chứng cho Tin Mừng trong thời đại chúng ta và diễn tả lòng nhân hậu của Chúa Cứu Thế.” Ngài giải thích rằng các cơ quan của Giáo triều Roma phải thích ứng với “các tình huống của thời đại chúng ta” và với “nhu cầu của Giáo hội hoàn vũ.” Bộ trưởng của bộ mới là Đức Giám mục Kevin Farrell, 69 tuổi, người Mỹ gốc Ái-nhĩ-lan, giám mục Giáo phận Dallas, Hoa Kỳ, từ năm 2007. - hdgmvietnam.org
