Sharing the Gospel
Jesus is standing in a boat at the edge of a large lake. He is talking to you and a
crowd on the shore. You are sitting on a blanket with your mother's picnic basket
beside you. Jesus talks about sowing seed. You are like God's seed. You grow in
God's way because you are baptized with the water of salvation and are given the
nutrients that come from obeying God's commandments. The farmer is God. The
seed is God's Word. That makes the soil your heart. If your heart is angry or
stub-born, God's Word can't sink in. If your heart is shallow, God's Word can't take
root. Instead, you will worry about getting power or riches. If your heart is
discour-aged by people who hate God, your faith will choke. If your heart is soft, God's
Word will change your life, and it will show.

Mission Appeal for Missionary Fraternity of Mary
This year our Diocesan Society for the Propagation of the Faith has invited the Missionary Fra-ternity of Mary to come to our parish to conduct a Mission Appeal on the weekend of August 12-13, 2017. The visit of Fr. Luis Carlos this weekend, on behalf of the Missionary Fraternity of Mary, to our parish is in cooperation with our participation in the Annual Mission Cooperative Pro-gram for the Diocese of Brooklyn. Fr. Luis Carlos will speak at our parish Masses this weekend about the missionary activities of the Missionary Fraternity of Mary . This weekend will be an opportunity for all of us to learn more about missionary activities and to support them with our prayers and donations.You are invited to give from your heart to help spread the Gospel Message throughout the world and help to alleviate the needs of the poor.
