Descripción de la asignación de voluntarios NU
MMRR000174--Research and Data Analytics

temperatures averaging 27 degrees Celsius or 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The months of March, April, and May the weather in Myanmar can be very hot and humid, especially around the coastal regions. This increase in temperature is caused by the onset of the rainy season. Despite the hot temperatures, there are areas that can be quite pleasant. The interior areas such as Inle Lake and Bagan can be quite a bit cooler than the coastal regions. The mountainous areas can also be cooler as they have a much higher altitude. Yangon is the busiest and most populous city in Myanmar. Yangon served as the capital of Myanmar until 2006, when the military government relocated the capital to the purpose-built city of Nay Pyi Taw in central Myanmar. With over 7 million people, Yangon is Myanmar's largest city and its most important commercial centre. Yangon boasts of all modern amenities, malls, hotels, cafes and a well-served international/domestic airport.

SP Contexto Organizativo & descripción del proyecto.
The current context in Myanmar is characterized by political and security instability, compounded by the Covid-19 pandemic. Economic growth has been severely constrained by the pandemic and poverty is expected to increase substantially. Millions of the ‘near poor’ and vulnerable people in urban areas are expected to fall into hunger in coming months, with the already poor in rural areas all but guaranteed to fall into deeper poverty.
All this happens just as reliable information on the multifaceted and differentiated impact of the political instability and COVID-19 is either absent or lagging. Published official data is limited. To meet the urgent need for information about the transmission effects of both the pandemic and political crisis onto the country’s stability, cohesion, socioeconomic fabric and development pathway, UNDP will conduct a range of research, data and analytical activities under the Myanmar Development Observatory.
The interns will work in support of the Observatory’s work. S/he is expected to offer support on research, analytics, programme implementation and stakeholder engagement.
