SOME: Este adjetivo se utiliza para indicar una cantidad indeterminada de alguna cosa.

- Se usa delante de sustantivos contables en plural:

There are some children in the park (1)

- Se usa delante de sustantivos incontables en singular:

There's some hot coffee. Have a cup! (2)

- En ambos casos, siempre en las formas afirmativas.

ANY: Este adjetivo acompaña a los sustantivos contables en plural e incontables en

singular en frases negativas.

- En la negación indica que no hay nada de alguna cosa para los incontables o ningún/a

en el caso de los contables:

- Any también se utiliza generalmente para las interrogaciones para saber si hay

'algo de' o alguno/a:

Have you got any money?

En las preguntas donde se ofrece o se pide algo, usaremos Some en lugar de Any. Would you like some biscuits? (7) Can you lend me some paper? (8)

y Los adjetivos demostrativos ‘this-these’ y ‘that-those’

- ‘This’ designa un objeto cercano al emisor y significa 'este, esta y esto'. Es la forma para el

singular tanto para el género masculino como para el femenino. - La forma del plural es these.

The post office is very near. Go along this street and take the second turning on the left. (1)

- Para designar un objeto o persona más alejada del emisor utilizaremos that, que significa ‘aquel, aquella, aquello, ese, esa y eso’. El plural de that es those.

L: Yes, can you bring me some red wine, please? RS: Which room are you in?

L: I’m in room 236.

RS: So, that’s a roast-beef salad, a ham omelette and some red wine for room

236. I’ll send your dinner up immediately, madam.

L: Oh, and could I have an orange juice too, please? RS: Certainly, madam.

L: Thank you very much. Goodbye. RS: Goodbye.
