There is a ministry within our parish that has been so faithful throughout the years, serving quietly behind the scenes. Many may not even know what they do, but I assure you God does and so do I! The Altar Society has been established for years now with one of their main objectives in ministry is cleaning the Sacristy and the Sanctuary in the Church. Every week it gets done, whether that is on a Friday evening or Saturday morning. I know some have wanted to be involved in the ministries of the Church but they say, "I'm not the type that likes to be up-front, or in a position that is seen by everyone such as a lector. I just want to contribute to the life of the community with what I can do." I would encourage a person like this to join the Altar Society. Our parish is so blessed with their ministry! Hay un ministerio dentro de nuestra parroquia que ha sido tan fiel a lo largo de los años, sirviendo silenciosamente detrás de escena. During the pandemic, our parish suffered many losses of parishioners, including those who were ordained (Deacon Jesse Guajardo) and preparing to be ordained (Armando Sanchez) for the Diocese of San Angelo. The priest(s) and the
remaining deacons took upon themselves the ministries of those who passed away, increasing their "workload". With this situation, I (Fr. David) approached Bishop Sis in order to seek some assistance with the ever-increasing ministries. With the support and advice of Deacon Nacho, Deacon Ricardo, Fr. Freddy, and Deacon Candidate Sergio Cedillo, I requested that another deacon be assigned to Our Lady of Guadalupe from the deaconate candidates who are finishing up their program in June. I am happy to report that the bishop has honored our request and has assigned Billy Garcia, together with his wife Angie to our parish. I am excited (as I am sure you will be once you get to know them) about our new team
members (Billy and Angie) who come with an enthusiasm to serve the people of God. Billy was installed as an acolyte on the same day that Sergio received his
installation. You will see Billy serving at the Mass. Please welcome him and Angie to the parish when you see them. Recently a new ministry was formed to assist those
who have experienced a death of a family member or
of a good friend. The ministry is called Grief Share. It
is a thirteen week course that participants come
together and share their experiences or simply listen
to others--there is no expectation or requirement to
share your own story! Here are some of the
comments made by those participating:
“I went from having a very negative, being alone,
nobody cares about me feeling to finding a group that
truly understands what we go through when we have
lost someone." Severo Enriquez
"It became my sanctuary where it was okay to not be
okay.” Christina Barela
"Grief Share helped me to deal with the loss of my
dad and brought back the loss of my baby (18 years
ago). It helped me understand why I feel the way I
feel and how other people feel." Jackeline Dominguez

Recientemente se formó un nuevo ministerio para
ayudar a aquellos que han experimentado la muerte
de un miembro de la familia o de un buen amigo. El
ministerio se llama Grief Share. Es un curso de trece
semanas en el que los participantes se reúnen y
comparten sus experiencias o simplemente escuchan
a los demás: ¡no hay expectativas ni requisitos para
compartir su propia historia! A continuación se
