Message from the Pastor
The gospel story today could seem some fantastic scene from two thousand years ago, but it is perfectly applicable in our day. There were about five thousand people on a field, far from a city. They were all so taken by the goodness and power of that mysterious man called Jesus that they hadn’t thought about eating! But they were hungry. The Lord had pity on them and wanted to use a marvelous sign by multiplying
the bread and thus satisfying their need. The apostles start to distribute a few loaves, yet the baskets are never emptied. As they eat, the people become enthusiastic at seeing the miracle and think that this is a good time to proclaim Jesus king. The fact that this man is interested in their human needs means a lot to them. And that is precisely the lesson Jesus wishes to impart. The multiplication of the loaves isn’t so much a trick of magic to impress some. It is a sign of God’s care for us. God wants us Christians to use our hands to do the miracle of helping others. Every time we share bread, we repeat the miracle.

Mensaje del Párroco
La escena que nos presenta hoy el relato evangélico nos puede parecer una escena fantástica de hace dos mil años, pero que tiene perfecta aplicación a nuestros días. Había como cinco mil personas sobre un campo, distantes de la ciudad. Todos estaban tan fascinados por la bondad y el poder de aquel hombre misterioso al que llamaban Jesús que no habían pensado en comer. Pero tenían hambre. El Señor tuvo compasión y quiso emplear un signo maravilloso: multiplicar el pan y así saciarlos. Los apóstoles comienzan a repartir unos pocos panes y los canastos nunca quedan vacíos. La gente, mientras come, se entusiasma con el milagro y piensan que ese es el momento de proclamar rey a Jesús. Para ellos significa mucho el que ese hombre se interese por sus necesidades humanas. Esa es precisamente la lección que Jesús les quiere dar. La multiplicación de los panes no es tanto una exhibición de magia para impresionar. Es un signo del cuidado que Dios tiene por nosotros. Dios quiere que los cristianos hagamos con nuestras manos el milagro de ayudar a otros. Cada vez que compartimos el pan estamos repitiendo el milagro

Feast: July 19 Born: Abril 24, 1581 in Guyenne and Bascony, France Died: September 27, 1660 in Paris, France
Born of a family of farmers, St. Vincent de Paul grew up in a family with four brothers and two sisters. His father seeing that St. Vincent had an
intelligence superior to that of others, sent him to study with the monks in the city of Dax. At the age of 24 he was ordained a priest.Beyond his great intelligence, Saint Vincent was a normal man until an event changed his life forever. He was wounded, kidnapped and sold as a slave in Africa by pirates. San Vicente was sold to a fisherman and who later sold him it to an arab who tried to convert him to Islam and when he died he was sold to a Christian family from whom he escaped. After these events, St. Vincent became the tutor of important counts and families. Among them were Cardinals Mazarin and Richelieu who were the first ministers of
France. Also, Queen Anne of Austria, made him part of the Royal Council of King Louis XIV when he was 5 years old. All these influences were profitable for him because his works for the counts and the royalty, he would allow him to create the different missions such as the Lazarists who later would be known as the Vincentians. This congregation was based on the fact that the laity and priests took four vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and stability. Also, during the war of 30 years he helped in different countries building hospitals and distributing food for the poor. St. Vincent did not have much patience and always said that the only thing that kept him calm was the constant conversations with God. So much so, that he saw the problems of humanity as his own. One of the greatest messages of St. Vincent is that he served as a bridge between the rich and the needy, always looking for Christ in the presence of the poor.

Nacido de una Familia de agricultores, San Vicente de Paul creció en una familia con cuatro hermanos y dos hermanas. Viendo su padre que San Vicente tenia una inteligencia superior a la de los demás, su padre lo envío a estudiar con los monjes en la ciudad de Dax. A la edad de 24 años fue ordenado sacerdote. Mas allá de su gran inteligencia, San Vicente era un hombre normal hasta que un suceso cambiaria su vida para siempre. El fue herido, secuestrado y vendido como esclavo en Africa por piratas. San Vicente fue vendido a un pescador y este lo vendió a un arable que trato de convertirlo al islam y cuando este murió fue vendido a una familia Cristiana de la cual escapo. Después de estos sucesos, San Vicente se convirtió en el tutor de condes y familias importantes. entre ellas, estaban los cardenales Mazarino y Richelieu quienes fueron los primeros ministros de Francia. También, la Reina Anne de Austria, lo hizo parte del consejo Real de el Rey Luis XIV cuando este tenia 5 años. Todas estas influencias fueron provechosas para él ya que con los trabajos a los condes y la realeza, el pudo crear las diferentes misiones como los Lazaristas que luego serian conocidos como los Vicentinos. Esta congregación se basaba en que los laicos y sacerdotes tomaban cuatro votos de pobreza, castidad, obediencia y estabilidad. También, durante la guerra de los 30 años ayudo en diferentes países
construyendo hospitales y repartiendo comida para los pobres. San Vicente tenia muy corta paciencia y siempre decía que lo único que lo mantenía calmado era la constantes charlas con Dios. Tanto así, que veía los problemas de la humanidad como suyos. Uno de los mas grandes mensajes de
San Vicente es que le sirvió como puente de enlace entre los ricos y necesitados, siempre mirando en el pobre la presencia de Cristo.

But, when caring adults have a “healthy suspicion” about something in their surroundings, they can identify the risks to children early enough to prevent child sexual abuse from occurring.
El entrnamiento de Virtus los capacita para formar parte de la solución del problema relacionado con el abuso sexual de menores en nuestros hogares, parroquias y comunidades. Usted no ocasionó este problema. Pero cuando los adultos que se preocupan tienen una “sospecha razonable” sobre algo que sucede a su alrededor, ellos pueden identificar el riesgo al que los niños están expuestos lo suficientemente temprano como para evitar que ocurra el abuso sexual de menores.
